Attendance Office Announcement
Just a few attendance reminders:
If you’re leaving school, your parent or guardian will need to check you out at the front office. Remember if you leave campus WITHOUT properly checking out you will be marked as a sluff. This school year we are practicing best practice to ensure safety we MUST have a parent/guardian come into the office to physically check out their child in order to ensure only the correct students are being checked out to the right guardians. Students will not be able to be excused from class with a phone call. If your smiling face never makes it school, please remember to have a parent or guardian call and excuse your absence within two days.
Missing or being tardy to class can prevent you from participating in school activities like school dances, end of term rewards, and rewards at the end of the school year. This year we will be having Lobo Days at the end of each term in which a student must fall within the guidelines with detention/grades and citizenship to attend.
One Tardy = 15 Minutes of Detention
One Late Tardy= 30 Minutes of Detention
One Sluff (skipping class) = 45 Minutes of Detention
3 Hours of Detention = No School Activities
Detention will be served on a student's OWN time by working with one of THEIR teachers before or after school.
- Unserved detention will result in further disciplinary action and loss of privileges for other school activities.
- Other consequences may include: Not being eligible for participation in extracurricular activities. This includes: athletics, field trips, dances etc.
- It is the responsibility of the student to make up any detention that would disqualify them from school activities.
Citizenship Point System
This year our teachers will be calculating citizenship points within their grading systems. We will follow a uniform approach across all classrooms. Citizenship points will be included in the students ability to participate in any school activities or rewards. To participate in activities students must have no N's or U's in citizenship.
Finance Office
School Fees can be paid online at schoolcashonline.com or in person at the Finance office. NO payments will be taken over the phone. Refunds will be held until the end of the school year to be used towards fines or other fees unless otherwise requested!
Lobo R&R
For those of you new with us this school year we will be participating in our Lobo R&R this school year. With this, we encourage you to remind your student about bringing a book to read, or making sure they have something ready for R&R days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you are needing to check out a book, English classes will be working on this from the library and would be happy to help ensure each student has reading material. Reminder that physical copies of books, or e-readers need to be with each student as they will be required to participate in that reading time. We look forward to continue having this reset and hope this time will offer a mental recharge for all.
Chromebook Update
Starting this school year, we will no longer provide Chromebooks on a 1:1 basis. Instead, Chromebooks will be available as classroom sets for use during the school day.
Front Office Reminder
DoorDash is convenient, but is NOT approved on campus. Orders will begin being sent away as it is too hard to keep track of who's order is who's. To easily change this issue, we are going back to the original approach of NO DOOR DASH deliveries to the front of the office. We appreciate your help in this matter.
Cell Phone Reminder
Spanish Fork Jr. High is a phone-free school from bell to bell. Our students are expected to keep their phones in their backpack, purse or bag with notifications set to a mode that cannot receive or send notifications. Smart watches may be worn, but must also be set to a mode that cannot receive or send notifications. For more detailed information, please refer to the district policy . We will review this policy with our students during the first few days of school. You can also visit our school website for a student version of the policy.
Cell Phone Violation Process:
- 1st offense- Turned into the front office, student can pick up at the end of the day.
- 2nd offense- Student will have a parent called, and informed that next violation the phone/electronic devices/headphones will need to be picked up by a guardian.
- 3rd offense- Phone/electronic devices/headphones kept in front office until a guardian can come and collect it.
- 4th offense-Student will be required to check in device to the front office at the beginning of the day, and may pick up from the front office at the end of the day.
Lunch Room Announcement
October Breakfast and Lunch Menus
We are in need of a few students to come help as lunch workers. Students - if you are interested in helping serve lunch, just show up at the kitchen door in the cafeteria about 5 minutes before the start of your lunch, and we’ll put you to work. You’ll get a free lunch on the same day that you help serve. Thank you!
