Please consider purchasing tickets in advance for a smoother experience. Tickets can be purchased here. Proceeds from ticket sales help fund senior fine arts scholarships awarded at Fine Arts Awards Night in April. If you pay with cash, only exact change will be taken. Please note Canyon HS' clear bag policy for the stadium.

Schedule for the day:

• Band students miss 1st and 2nd period on Wednesday, October 8th

• 8:55 Band color guard students report to band hall wearing compression gear

• 9:10 Run through begins on practice field

• 9:40 Load truck, head inside

• 10:25 approximate time finished loading truck, change into school clothes

• 10:45 dismissed to attend class for the rest of the school day

• Since we will not have instruments for the rest of the school, band class will be spent reviewing video from practice and study hall

After school

• 4:30pm feed the band
• 5:15pm change into uniform
• 5:45pm uniform inspection in band hall
• 6:00pm load busses and leave for Canyon HS
• 6:45pm arrive at Canyon, unload trailer, assemble props
• 7:20pm enter field, brief warm up on field
• 7:30pm performance
• 9:00pm load trucks and leave, directors meet with judges for feedback
• 10:15pm arrive at DHS, unload truck, change out of uniform
• 10:45pm approximate parent pickup

• Band - long black socks, marching shoes, compression shirt, compression shorts, and gloves. No makeup or jewelry, natural hair colors only. DHS band backpack.
• Color guard - Black leggings, CG shirt, black no show socks, and Jazz shoes. Show hair. Show makeup.

Schedule for gameday

• 8:00am call time in band hall for pep rally wearing compression shirt and jeans
• 9:25am Pep rally ends, go to class
• 1:45pm released from class, go to field for run through
• 2:20pm run through
• 2:45pm load trucks / get dressed
• 3:30pm uniform inspection
• 3:45pm depart DHS for Fredericksburg stadium
• 5:30pm arrive at Fredericksburg stadium, unload, eat
• 6:00pm Begin filing into stands
• 6:30pm Pregame Ceremonies
• 7:00pm Davenport vs. Fredericksburg Football Game
• 10:00pm Estimated Game End Time- load trucks and buses
• 11:30pm arrive at DHS, pack up
• 12am approximate parent pickup

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and children 5 and under are free. *credit card purchases will be charged a transaction fee. Students wearing a band shirt will be admitted into the contest as a group after their performance. They may enter together with a director or chaperone through the main entry gate.

• 1:15 pm Load Truck, change into athletic shorts and Bandtober shirt, eat lunch (provided), watch bands, buy concessions/shirts/patches; truck leaves to return to DHS

• 4:30 pm Results

• 5:00 pm Leave Canyon HS

• ~5:45 pm Parent Pickup @ DHS

Prelims:

• 1st place in Group IV
• Caption awards for best Music, Visual, Percussion, Color Guard, and Overall Effect

Finals:

• 2nd place overall
• Caption award for best Music
• Highest scoring 4A band in finals
• The only group that beat us is a 6A school

We are very proud of everyone's performance on Saturday!

Comal Classic Marching Contest 10/11 (Saturday):

Breakfast: McDonald's Breakfast Sandwich (Choice of Sausage McMuffin or Sausage Biscuit) OR Costco Muffin and a Banana.

Feeding location: Outside near Band Hall door

Feeding time: 9:30am (eat before changing into uniform)

Lunch: Which Wich Sub Sandwich (Choice of Ham, Turkey or Grinder (Salami, Pepperoni and Capicola) with Chips, Grapes (choice of red or green) Cookie and Gatorade or Bottle of Water.

Feeding location: Canyon High School Parking Lot (near buses)

Feeding time: 1:30pm (Must be wearing athletic shorts and Bandtober shirt to receive food)

The next eligibility snapshot will be on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 4:30pm. Students can regain or lose eligibility from this check.

Students who have an unexcused absence from after school rehearsal will not perform at halftime at the football game this week. Please communicate any conflicts that you have with band rehearsals. We will work with your schedule to find solutions.

• 2025 Marching Band Contest Dates (required)

  Please mark your calendars for the following dates. Please plan for the contest to take the whole day.

  • Comal Classic: Saturday, October 11th, 2025: Perform 12:45pm
  • UIL Region 12 Marching Contest: Saturday, October 18th, 2025: Perform at 5:15pm, students can be released for homecoming after our performance
  • UIL Area E Marching Contest: Saturday, October 25th, 2025 (times TBA)
  • UIL State Marching Band Contest (4A): Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 (times TBA)

Make-up band photos for students who were absent or for Color Guard students to take their photo in their uniform have been scheduled for Thursday, October 16th during first and second period. Guard students will get their photo taken during class; other students will receive a pass to class after their photo is taken if they do not have a first or second period band class.

We will be sizing letter jackets and coordinating club activities on Wednesday, October 8th, before school. We are happy to include your student at this time.

Letterman packets can be picked up at the front of the band hall. Please ensure the packet is completed and payment is submitted by the morning of October 8th in order to place your letter jacket order.

We are proud to offer private lessons and masterclasses on nearly all instruments. If you are interested in signing your student up for private lessons, please email Mr. Lehmann.

Communication has been great this year! Please continue to communicate with the directors if you cannot make rehearsal or need to arrive late or leave early.

As we enter competition season, rehearsal attendance is crucial to the band's success. Please refer to the DHS Band Handbook for what constitutes an excused absence from rehearsal.
