Happy New Year SVDP community!

Instruction resumes on Monday, January 8th, and we are looking forward to welcoming back our students at the first bell. Read through the newsletter for important information to start off the new year successfully!

Save the Dates - Come celebrate with us!

  • January 16th at 6:00pm - Parent Guild presents Screen Time Strategies with Children. Whether you have elementary or middle school aged children, our presenter will share how technology effects our well-being. Come learn with us!

  • January 24th at 6:00pm - Parent Spirit Rally! We will kick-off the Centennial Campaign in support of school facility improvement projects -- Elevated Sport Court and more. If you thought Back-to-School Night - Parent Recess was fun... you can not miss this event.

  • January 28th at 10:00am - School Mass followed by SVDP School Open House. Join us for a Mass celebration and then tour the school. Check out next year's classroom.

  • February 2nd - Have your student's VIPs save the date to experience Saint Vincent de Paul. See registration form below.

VIP Day - February 2nd VIP Day - February 2nd

Have your student's VIPs save the date to experience Saint Vincent de Paul. Students can have up to four visitors. Please register your student's visitors on the form linked below. Parents are asked NOT to attend VIP Day, even if your child has no one in attendance, it is confusing to other children why all parents can not attend.

The Gift of Compliance The Gift of Compliance

This holiday season, give your student the gift of “compliance.”

Many of our middle school boys are out of compliance with regard to hair styles. Below are the requirements per the SVDP Community Handbook.

Hair is to be neatly groomed and of moderate length. Bandanas/kerchiefs covering the head are not permitted. Hairstyles must be tame and not entail significant contrasts of long and short hair, or unnatural contrasts in color. Hair styles that are extreme or bizarre, or that involve design or architecture are not permitted.

  • Boys: Haircuts are to be traditional and conservative, kept to the top of the neck and above the collar, off the ears and from mid-forehead to above the eyebrows.

  • Final judgement as to what is acceptable will be determined by the administration.

The administration does not consider hair longer on top and combed forward over and beyond the forehead to be in compliance.

For the girls, we are seeing the skirts get shorter and shorter – some because they are just too short and some because the girls are opting to roll at the waistband. Either way compliance is the issue. Please note that the skirts are available in a “teen” size, that provides more length, no matter the waist size.

From the community handbook:

  • Plaid Skirt: Girls are required to have their skirt length at the middle of the knee.

When we come back to class on January 8, it would also be wonderful to see clean tennis shoes, sweaters without holes, and fresh (not gray or dingy) white shirts.

So, your sons should make a trip to the barber or hair stylist, and everyone should visit Classic Design for a refresh. We do have many uniform pieces available for free in the used uniform area.

Thank you!
