Back to School (Curriculum) Night & Title I Annual Meeting

We encourage all parents to attend Curriculum Night, Thursday, September 22nd. This is an opportunity to visit your child’s classroom and learn about the academic program, class routines and class schedules. We offer two sessions so families can visit more than one classroom. Doors will open at 4:45, through the Activity Entrance.

  • 5:00-5:30pm - General Session in Gym 1 with Mrs. Mitchell

  • 5:35-6:00pm - Session 1 - Classroom

  • 6:05-6:30pm - Session 2 - Classroom

  • For our DLI classrooms, please note the following session information:

    • Kindergarten - Session 1 in Spanish, Session 2 in English

    • First Grade - Session 1 & 2 in English

    • Second Grade - Session 1 in English, Session 2 in Spanish

Please remember this is a parent only event. We look forward to seeing you!

Arrival & Dismissal Time

We want to thank our families for their grace as we continue to fine tune our arrival & dismissal procedures. Due to increased tardies in the morning, we are shifting the arrival time to 7:40 for students that are not eating breakfast at school. All students should be in their classrooms ready for the day at 7:55.

For our parents who walk to pick their child up at dismissal, please meet your child at the following locations:

  • K-2 by the round planter out front (this allows our classes more room to line up)

  • 3-5 past the portables, near the track

In order to keep traffic moving smoothly, if your child needs help buckling/loading into their car seat, please park and walk up.

Going Home Plans

If you need to make a necessary change in dismissal plans, please call the office before 1:30 (12:30 on Early Release days) as teachers often do not have time to check phone messages or emails during the school day. Students will be sent home by their “normal plan” if we do not receive a note or phone call to let us know there has been a change.

Picture Day is Coming Soon!

Picture envelopes will come home via backpack mail next week. You may also order your pictures online. For more information, please click here.

Save the Date for Dinner Night Out!

Our next dinner night out is September 28th, at Chipotle in Sherwood. Flyers will be coming home via backpack mail next week, or click on the link here.

Hawks View Fun Run

The Hawks View Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 30 and includes our PreK-5th grade students. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate your support! More information will be sent home with your student in the coming weeks. Families are invited to attend and cheer for their student. We will have several check in tables down on the field. Parents should visit one of the tables to sign in and receive a visitor sticker. We are looking forward to this fun event!

PAX Tools - Simple Strategies for Teaching Kids Behavior

Do you want to reduce conflict? Have better relationships? Help your children manage their own behavior? You need PAX Tools! Please click here for more information and how to sign up. Dinner and childcare will be provided.

Head Lice News

Hawks View has had a few confirmed cases of head lice in various classrooms. Please take the time to check the hair of your students and family members on a regular basis. Head lice is a community concern, as they can be transferred from hats and clothing in stores, seat backs at restaurants, theater chairs, seats in vehicles, and stuffed animals, just to name a few ways to be exposed to lice. Please notify the office if your child has lice, so we can take steps to prevent an outbreak. This information is kept confidential. Visit our district website (scroll down) for more information on lice, and links to resources. If you have questions, please call the nursing staff located in the SHARE Center at 503-825-5488, or the Hawks View office.

Community Information

Sports and enrichment activities in our community can be found on our District website, under the Resources tab, and then Community Information.
