Updates from Mrs. Love
Dear Viking Families,
Even though our school year is beginning a little differently than we all expected, I want to start by saying how grateful I am for your patience, flexibility, and support. While the delayed start has brought its own set of challenges, it has also given us additional time to prepare thoughtfully for the year ahead and to ensure that when our Vikings return, they step into a safe, caring, and engaging environment.
We know that the start to this school year may not look exactly like years past, but one thing remains the same—our commitment to your children. Their joy, growth, and success are at the heart of everything we do. Our staff has been working hard to plan meaningful learning experiences, and we can’t wait to fill our hallways with the energy and laughter of students once again.
Thank you for partnering with us as we begin this new journey together. I am confident that with our Viking spirit—courage, strength and resilience—we will not only meet these challenges, but also create lasting memories and accomplishments along the way.
Please see my attached letter to families below regarding the plan for the first day of school at DES. Here’s to a bright and successful year ahead!
With Viking Pride,
Mrs. Love

Food Service Updates
To start the school year, all DES students will receive FREE breakfast and lunch through September 30th when we hope to have more information on the state's budget. More information will be shared to families as we receive it from the state.
It is still very important to complete the free and reduced application forms in your back to school paperwork, regardless of your qualification status. This application process is essential for the district as it helps secure vital funding from the state and federal sources. Regardless of your income, please fill out this application. Thank you for your help with this matter!
