Big Skies, Bright Futures
During Education Week, our school proudly celebrated the theme “Big Skies, Bright Futures.” Students spent the week reflecting on their hopes and aspirations by creating a beautiful display showcasing their goals and dreams for the future. We also officially launched our K-3 Home Reading Program, inviting families to join us for a special picnic in the gym as we celebrated the joy of reading together. Students took part in a fun school-wide challenge where teams acted out scenes from Robert Munsch books while judges worked to guess the story, creating plenty of laughter and school spirit. We wrapped up the week with a buddy activity that brought students of different ages together to collaborate, build relationships, and strengthen our sense of community. It was a wonderful week filled with learning, connection, and excitement as we looked ahead to our bright futures.
Kindergarten and Grade 11 went on a word hunt and then did some coloring together.

Walk-a-thon
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our students, families, and community members who supported our Walk-a-Thon fundraiser last month. Thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm, we were able to purchase additional books to support our K-3 Home Reading Program, helping to foster a love of reading both at school and at home.
We were also able to invest in new jerseys for our Senior Boys Volleyball team, giving our athletes something to be proud of as they represent our school. We are excited to share that we are now very close to reaching our goal of purchasing new team chairs for the gym, which will be used during games and tournaments.
Your support continues to make a positive difference for our students, and we are grateful for the strong partnership between our school and community. Thank you for helping us create meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and succeed!
Bundle up for recess & Fire Fridays!
As the weather turns colder, we want to remind families to ensure students are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Fresh air and active play are an important part of the school day, and we head outside every day. All grades will have the opportunity to go outside on Fridays throughout the winter to learn by the fire.
Please make sure your child comes to school with warm clothing, including a coat, toque, mitts, boots, and ski pants. Labeling items with your child’s name also helps keep track of belongings.
October Events
Fiddle & Jig presentation
KPS was very fortunate to host a Jig and Fiddle presentation on Tuesday Oct. 27th. This presentation was sponsored by Batoche Metis Local #51 and featured Metis fiddler Jason Lepine, guitarist Lionel Desjarlais and Amy Seesequasis sharing Metis culture. We welcomed 2 classes from Birch Hills, residients from our Jubilee Lodge and the community in to join the presentation. The group was also able to do two smaller performances in the morning for the Daycare and our Pre-K and K students. It was a wonderful afternoon!
Pancake Breakfast
Huge thank you to Lake Country Co-op for their help in sponsoring our 2nd annual Pancake Breakfast on September 30th. It was a great way to start the day for our students, families and community.

Healthy foods, healthy minds
Providing children with healthy snacks and lunches is an important part of supporting both their physical well-being and their success in the classroom. Nutritious foods help students maintain energy, improve concentration, enhance memory, and support overall learning throughout the school day. We encourage families to pack balanced lunches and snacks that include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein-rich foods whenever possible.
We are fortunate to continue supporting student nutrition through funding from the Canadian National Food Program. Each morning, our Pre-K to Grade 6 students are offered a healthy breakfast snack, while Grade 7-12 students have access to toast during first break. These programs help ensure that students have the nourishment they need to start their day ready to learn. We also recognize that mornings can be busy, and lunches are occasionally forgotten at home. To support students in these situations, emergency lunches are available at school so that no child goes without a meal during the day.
Thank you to our families for partnering with us to promote healthy habits and support student wellness. Together, we can help our students develop healthy bodies, healthy minds, and a strong foundation for learning.
