Key Club and Early College students help pack kits to address hunger

On Friday, October 10, 2025, students from the Davison High School Key Club and Davison Early College volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children meal packing event to help fight world hunger. The event was held at Richfield Church of the Nazarene where volunteers packed more than 300,000 meals over a three-day period.

A total of 30 Davison student volunteers joined a larger group of 208 volunteers to pack the nutritious meal kits containing rice, dried vegetables, soy and vitamins. In just 1.5 hours, the volunteers packed an impressive 252 boxes, which equals 54,433 meals. These meals will provide daily nutrition for 149 children for an entire year-making a meaningful difference in the lives of kids in Uganda.

Key Club sponsor Mrs. Mary Ann Stedry said this event highlighted teamwork, compassion, and the power of service when communities come together for a shared cause.

DHS students attend "Cocoa with Cops"

Students at Davison High School had the opportunity to get to know new School Resource Officer Dexter Taylor a bit better and get some tips about social media safety during a recent "Cocoa with a Cop" event.

Officer Taylor, who is an officer with the Davison Township Police Department, hosted the event at 8:30 a.m. on a delayed start Wednesday. Students signed up beforehand for the event, which was held in the new Lecture Hall.

During the presentation, Officer Taylor gave students pointers on what to look out for when it comes to using social media and their devices.

Officer Taylor said more presentations may be held in the future.

" I do think it would be fun to have some guest speakers come in to help make the morning a little more entertaining," he said. "I might even try having donuts next time as a way to peak more interest."

Officer Taylor invited other local police officers to take part in the Cocoa with Cops event.

"I like the idea of the students being a little more comfortable with their local police department while being able to educate them at the same time on how to be safe," he said.
