Week 32

Dear MUMS community,

We can't thank you all enough for the wonderful treats that many of you provided us last week during staff appreciation week. Additionally, we are really looking forward to the brunch that is being hosted by so many generous community members on the 18th. Thanks for always being a support, for our students and our school.

Additionally, we are looking forward to next week as we welcome rising 6th grade caregivers to MUMS to get to know our school and our programming. If you know of anyone who has a current 5th grader please encourage them to join us!

As always, we appreciate your continued support and hope that you have a great weekend!

Best,

Michaela Wisell ~ Principal

From the MYP Coordinator

Greetings MUMS Caregivers!

Our tigers have been busy at a variety of spring events in our community. Last Wednesday, our whole school participated in a morning of community service! Students participated in everything from playing chess with seniors to planting flowers, painting gazebos, making cards, or greening up around campus and town (see below). It was a great day of giving back to our community. That same evening, many students participated in the 2026 MUMS Art Showcase! There was an amazing display of student creations from Art, Design, and Digital Design classes, as well as performances from our Jazz Band, Band and Choir. We’ve also had students showcasing their abilities at the Regional Civics Bee! And in more happenings, the MUMS Archaeology club had an amazing visit to the Granger House in Castleton VT, pictured here learning how to do an archaeological dig. May will bring even more exciting events including Jazz Band performances, a 7th grade field trip to Town Hall Theater, and our 8th grade trip to Boston, keep your eyes peeled for more updates and photos!

💡Talk to your student: What did they do on community service day? What does it mean to live as part of a community, and why is contributing or volunteering important?

Information about the 8th grade trip

We are just two weeks away from our annual 8th grade trip to Boston! If you are the caregiver of an 8th grader you should have received an email on Wednesday from Dustin Hunt including all pertinent details about the trip. Additionally, yesterday your student should have brought home an envelope containing important details, including a permission slip.

Please check in with your 8th grader if you haven't already and reach out to Dustin Hunt with any questions. (802)382-1213 or dhunt@acsdvt.org

Panorama Screener Information & Opt out letter

Spring Panorama Screener

We know that social emotional learning (SEL) is crucial for our students’ success in school and in life, so across ACSD we are working on systems to support strong SEL teaching and learning in our schools. As part of that work, we are using Panorama surveys, research-backed SEL measurement tools. We will use the data we collect with this assessment to reflect on student learning and strengthen our programs and instruction to help all students succeed.

ACSD students have been taking this survey for 3 years now and we are actively using the data at the school and district level. At MUMS, it helps us to know both how students are doing as well as respond with the whole class, grade, and individual support as needed.

This survey will be given to students in grades 3-12 between this week and May 29th. The survey asks students to self-reflect on skills related to self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness. We ask that all students participate, because their feedback provides valuable insights to help us improve and adapt. K-2 students do not participate directly in the survey. Instead, K-2 teachers complete an SEL Teacher Perception checklist for each student.

Please fill out this google form on or before May 19th only if you wish to opt your child out of taking this survey. Thank you in advance for supporting this important work. If you have any questions please contact Michaela Wisell, Principal at 382-1202.

  • Early dismissal + bus notes: Students must deliver a caregiver's note to the front office when arriving at school (before TA).

Shoreham/Cornwall bus caveats

Please use the "button" above to preview our ACSD bus routes.

Also please note a few caveats that impact students who ride Cornwall or Shoreham buses home.

Cornwall and Shoreham buses do not come to MUMS at pick-up time. Students who ride those buses must take a shuttle from MUMS to MUHS to meet their bus.

Cornwall students use the Bridport bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Cornwall bus at the High school to ride home.
Shoreham students use the Weybridge bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Shoreham bus at the High school to ride home.
