Shout Out! Shout Out!

A Shout Out to Teachers and Staff- From Mrs Nicholson

A huge thank you to our staff for an excellent school year! Our teachers and staff have been working hard to provide an engaging safe environment. Carriage has been recognized by the district for making nearly 13% growth in ELA on IREADY and nearly 7% growth in Math on IREADY. Our certificated staff has also been putting in the extra effort to attend professional development in Math. Our teachers have attended several trainings and have collaborated around Math and ELA instructional practices. Our staff continues to make a commitment to using data to inform instruction. This year our TK-5th grade staff learned how to administer and analyze a new ELA common assessment. This is a huge accomplishment and it shows how hard our students and staff are working! In addition to our academic focus, our entire staff, this year was trained in PBIS allowing us to learn more about positive behavior systems to impact student behaviors. These professional development commitments will continue to have lasting impact on our community.

Wow, first it was nice to see so many families at our 2nd “Lunch with a Loved one”. We look forward to more next year!

Secondly, I am impressed by everyone’s kind gestures on National Principal Day- I didn’t even know it was a day. Thank you for the kind words, the hugs, the gifts and most of all for allowing me to be the principal of Carriage. I am very touched.

A message from Mrs. Nicholson:

Wow, it is hard to believe we are coming to the end of the 2025- 2026 school year. We have approximately one month left of school with the last day of school being June 9th. Our school has several events, activities, and important lessons planned for the remaining weeks of school. Please continue to speak to your child about Safe, Responsible, and Respectful behavior along with being a good communicator as we close out the school year.

Unfortunately, it is with great sadness and disappointment that I need to let you know I am scheduled to have a medical procedure, placing me on a medical leave starting May 6, 2026. In my absence two retired administrators will be here to support the site’s needs. I am hoping to be back as soon as possible but may be out for the remaining school year. Please continue to reach out to the office if there is anything you need from the office or school staff. I will be back in August and will be here to kick off the 2026- 2027 school year.

As I finalize my first year at Carriage, I want to thank you for welcoming me to this community. I look forward to continuing to work with families who will be returning next school year

Summer Meal Program

Summer Food Service Program Applications Due May 15

Applications for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) are now available. The SFSP and SSO are federally funded, state-administered programs that serve free meals to children eighteen and younger when school is out of session. Summer meals provide children with access to essential nutrition during school closures and summer break. In summer 2025, SFSP and SSO operators served more than 15 million meals to children throughout the state. Organizations eligible to participate in Summer Meal Programs include schools, camps, nonprofits, tribal governments, and government agencies. Applications are due by May 15. For more information, visit the CDE Summer Meal Programs web page or email SFSP@cde.ca.gov.

Stay Informed!

Please take a look at our website (linked here: https://carriage.sanjuan.edu/). You will find schedules, events, and photos of our school community, as well as other important information about our school.

Our teachers regularly send home newsletters either electronically or in print. Not only do they inform you about classroom events and activities, they are a great source of information to speak with your child about which helps avoid the "What did you do today at school?" "Nothing." conversation!

Our office staff will send out our newsletter, "The Carriage Connection," at least once a month.

Of course, if you need any assistance or have any questions, please give us a call or stop in the office. We are here to help!
