Pre-K: Hello PreK families. We are continuing to learn our friends' names and getting to know each other. We’ve read books about being special and loving ourselves. We are beginning to implement KLP (Kindergarten Literacy Program), Letterland and Second Step into our routine. Please be on the lookout for information and a permission slip for our first field trip. We will be going to Carolina Country Fresh in Bethel on October 19th. We will continue next week with I’m Special, I’m Me/Feelings and Emotions.

Kindergarten: Hi Kindergarten family, next week we'll be learning about primary and secondary colors. We will also continue our ABC Boot camp and color: green, shape: rectangle and number 3. Sight words are green, three. Please continue to work with your child at home by writing their name and learning their sight words.

First Grade:

Next week we’ll continue working with fiction texts, focusing on characters in stories. Our Letterland sound for the week will be short o. In math, we’ll be making number combinations for 6 and 7. Please continue to practice sight words. The first set that was sent home will be tested the week of October 7th. If you need another copy, please let your child’s teacher know. Also, be sure your child is reading their take-home books nightly

Second Grade:

Greetings from the Second Grade Team! Next week we will begin to learn about matter and its properties; introduce double f, l, s, endings -ing and -ng, and review closed and open syllables; continue recounting stories including fables and folktales, from diverse cultures and tell the events in order; continue working on addition and subtraction within 20 using mental strategies and introduce the concept of even and odd numbers.

Resource:

Art: Our awesome little artists have learned about the Color Wheel this week! They have also finished up their projects from last week and will be bringing them home. I can’t wait to see what they create in our next project.

Music: Tiger Troupe auditions are underway! Several students from all the second grade classes requested auditions! Practices will begin after Book Fair Week. Our first PTA will feature three First Grade classes and a guest performer from Mrs. Reason’s class. It’s going to be a fun evening!

1. Car rider drop off will begin each morning at 7:30. All students will need to stay in their vehicles until a staff member directs them to begin entering the build. Students can not enter the building until 7:30. Therefore no students should be dropped off or brought in the building before that time. This is to ensure the safety of all of our students.

2. All Kindergarten students will continue to report directly to class upon arrival to school. First and Second grade students will report to the cafeteria for breakfast as they enter the building.

3. Students that arrive to school after the 8:05 will need to be signed in by their parent/guardian.

4. Students Check-out time ends at 2:15pm. After 2:15 students will be released during dismissal.

PRINCIPAL'S POST

What an awesome first three weeks of school! Parents we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we work out the best way to drop-off and pickup our car rider students. As you receive progress reports on Monday please work with your child in the areas identified by their teacher to help ensure that all students meet their academic goals. Also don't forget this newsletter will serve as our main form of communication to keep you all up to date on important dates and events occurring here at WPS. Again we thank you for everything you do for Williamston Primary School and for entrusting us with your children. Tiger Pride!!!
