The Weekly Update #4
August 22nd, 2025
And that’s a wrap, SLA families — testing season is officially over! We are incredibly proud of our scholars for all of their hard work, focus, and perseverance during the past few weeks of STAAR and MAP testing. Our students truly gave it their all, and we appreciate the support families provided at home to help them succeed.
Although testing has ended, the school year is not over just yet! Students still have important class assignments, projects, and final grades to focus on as we work toward the end of the month and final report cards. Please continue encouraging your child to stay focused, attend school daily, and finish the year strong!
We also want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support our Big Air Spirit Night! Over 80 students attended, and we are so grateful for the amazing support from our SLA community. Funds raised from events like these go directly back to supporting activities and opportunities for our scholars.
⭐Attention 8th Grade Families⭐
Please make sure you are carefully reading all 8th grade announcements and notices that are sent home. We understand this is a very busy time of year and families are receiving lots of information from schools and teachers, but many of these notices contain important details about graduation, prom, and end-of-year activities.
If you have not already done so, please submit a photo for graduation projection when your child’s name is called. Families may choose to submit a baby photo or a current photo, as long as it is school appropriate. If no photo is submitted, we will use the school photo currently in our system.
📌 Important Reminder:
The Google Form for photo and message submissions closes on May 15th
No late submissions will be accepted
Please make sure you enter your 8th grader’s name, not the parent/guardian’s name
Photos must be appropriate for school
We must finalize the graduation slideshow in advance, so timely submissions are extremely important to ensure we have enough time to prepare everything for our students’ special moment.
⭐8th Grade Activities Schedule⭐:

Hello Parents and Guardian,
As we move closer to the end of the school year, we will be monitoring dress code expectations more closely—especially with exciting events like Field Day and 8th grade activities (including prom and the end-of-year field trip) right around the corner. Participation in these events is a privilege, and following school expectations plays a big role in eligibility.
Students are expected to come to school in full dress code every day, including appropriate uniform bottoms. When students arrive in ripped jeans or out-of-dress-code clothing but have appropriate items in their backpacks, it shows they are aware of the expectations but are choosing not to follow them. We want to avoid unnecessary consequences, so please help ensure your student leaves home dressed appropriately.
Dress Code Reminders:
- Warm-up pants, sweatpants, joggers, basketball shorts, leggings, flare leggings, and athletic pants are not allowed as uniform bottoms.
- Students must wear approved uniform bottoms at all times while on campus.
- Students are required to wear their assigned grade-level uniform shirt each day:
- 6th Grade – Black
- 7th Grade – Red
- 8th Grade – Yellow
If a student arrives out of dress code:
- The student will be required to call a parent/guardian to bring appropriate clothing.
- If a change of clothes cannot be provided, the student will be assigned to ISS for the day.
Parents, we also want to remind you that our school day ends at 4:25 PM. We are noticing that some students are being picked up as late as 6:00 PM. During this time, staff members are staying with students to ensure their safety. Please be mindful that our staff also have families and responsibilities after school. We appreciate your support in ensuring students are picked up on time.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a focused and respectful learning environment as we finish the year strong!

8th graders, don’t forget to be on your best behavior! Participation in these fun end-of-year activities depends on your choices and actions. Make sure you are working hard, showing respect, and making good decisions so you can enjoy these special moments and create great memories with your friends!

Every day truly counts in Spring ISD! When students are in class, they stay connected, confident and ready to learn. Missing even one day before Winter break can set students back, as new material is still being taught. Let’s finish the year strong—together in culture, together in accountability. 💛
