We would like to pay our respects to and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land. We also pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

PDPN

Welcome to our first news update for the Primary Deputy Principals Network. We will be doing an update each term of what the PDPN team is working on and what is coming up soon.

We held our first committee meeting to commence planning for our 2020 conference and beyond.

We are looking forward to sharing our plans and ideas with you as we move into 2020.

One of our aims as the PDPN committee is to provide professional learning, networking and collaboration opportunities for all Deputy Principals in NSW. We have a team looking into effective ways to do this that include and go beyond our annual conference. Stay tuned for more details.

Thankyou Michael Duffy

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Michael Duffy for his leadership and service to the NSW PDPN. Michael was a long serving member of the PDPN committee and was elected to the Chairperson position for the last two years.

When Michael began as chairperson he had the goals to raise the quality of our annual conference and raise the profile of primary deputy principals. I think we can all agree that Michael has certainly met these goals.

Congratulations to all our office bearers for 2020.

Thankyou to all those who were apart of the 2019 committee, both in elected positions and beyond. We are sad to see some of our committee members step down this year, however we thank them for their efforts and commitment to providing an outstanding annual conference. We wish you all the best with your future endeavours and will happily welcome you back to the committee if circumstances change.

2019 Annual Conference Feedback

Thankyou to all our attendees who took some time to answer the conference survey.

The committee has taken the time to review the information in the survey, find positives, find areas for improvement and any trends.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive especially in regards to both our venue and our speakers.

Our inspirational keynote speaker Hamish Brewer was very well received and delegates walked away feeling passionate, recharged and ready to be relentless for our students.

It was certainly a new experience being at ANZ stadium and the conference dinner overlooking the field of play was a highlight of the venue.

We have taken on board suggestions for our next conference and will action feedback where a majority of delegates shared a similar opinion. This includes more time for networking to share experiences with colleagues and any suggestions for presenters at our 2020 conference.

2020 Venue Search

Whilst we would happily hold our 2020 conference at ANZ stadium, Olympic Park we have been advised that the stadium will be non operational for corporate events during September and beyond. The stadium is due for refurbishments and these will be undertaken in the second half of 2020.

After gathering quotes and information to choose the most suitable location to meet the needs of our delegates. There are a number of non-negotiables as we negotiate with venues including break out rooms, Wi-Fi access, suitable parking, on site or close accommodation and ease of access for public transport.

We are exploring several venues in the Sydney Metro and Greater Sydney Region and hope to have a booking by mid March

Conference Keynote Speaker Update

We are excited to announce that we have secured the services of Ann McIntyre to present a interactive keynote on Thursday the 10th of September.

Her most recent research, including “Empowered Educators in Australia” and “Empowered Educators around the world”, focuses on the interrelationship between policy and practice in examining how high performing educational systems empower teachers and leaders to achieve strong results.

As a result of her contribution to educational leadership Ann has been awarded; the Churchill Fellowship, the Vincent Fairfax Ethics in Leadership Award, the inaugural Sydney Leadership Award, the inaugural ACE Leadership in Professional Learning Award, the ACEL Patrick Duignan Award for Leadership, the ACEL Scholarship in Educational Leadership Award and the National ACEL Fellowship and the National ACE Fellowship.
