Mark your calendars! The annual Kellogg High School Career Fair is set to take place on March 13, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This valuable event is open to all students in grades 9-12 from Kellogg, Wallace, and Mullan High Schools, offering a chance to explore diverse career paths and post-secondary options. Organized by Silver Valley Special Services Co-Op Director, Tina Karst, the career fair has evolved from its initial focus on special needs students transitioning into the workforce to become a comprehensive event for all students.

This year's fair promises an impressive lineup of vendors, including businesses actively seeking to hire current & graduating high school students. Beyond immediate employment opportunities, the fair will also host representatives from a wide array of higher education institutions, from traditional colleges and universities to specialized trade schools and workforce training programs. Students will have the unique opportunity to connect face-to-face with these vendors at designated booths, gathering information and asking questions. Additionally, vendors can choose to conduct small group presentations, offering a more in-depth look at their respective fields and opportunities in 30-minute sessions.

Tina Karst expressed her excitement about the continued growth of the career fair. The event has consistently received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and participating vendors in previous years. The Kellogg School District is proud to host this important event, providing a valuable resource for students as they navigate their future educational and career paths. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore their options, make connections, and gain insights into the world of work and further education.

💜💛 Calling All KHS Alumni! 💜💛

Get Ready to Roar: Kellogg High School Alumni Week Set for March 10-14, 2025

Kellogg High School is excited to announce its upcoming Alumni Week, a celebration of Wildcat pride and community spirit, scheduled for March 10-14, 2025. This action-packed week will bring together alumni from near and far for a series of exciting events designed to reconnect, reminisce, and support the local community. Organized by the KHS Student Council, Alumni Week promises to be a memorable experience for everyone involved.

This year's festivities feature a dynamic lineup, including the highly anticipated Alumni Wrestling Duals on Thursday, March 13th at 6pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to witness legendary KHS wrestling icons return to the mat and showcase their skills once again. Adding to the excitement, alumni men's and women's basketball games will take center stage in Andrews Gymnasium starting at 6pm on Friday, March 14th, featuring Wildcat players from throughout the school’s history. These games have been a community favorite in the past, and the leadership class is eager to build on that success and expand the alumni-focused events.

According to KHS Student Council Advisor, Adam Ream, the goal of Alumni Week extends beyond entertainment. The Student Council is working diligently to provide not only a fun and engaging experience for the community but also to support the local food bank. Admission to the events will be by donation of non-perishable food items, and students will be hosting a food drive at KHS throughout the entire week. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of Kellogg High School and its alumni to giving back to the community that has supported them.

The KHS Student Council is looking forward to welcoming alumni back to campus and fostering a renewed sense of connection to Kellogg High School. This is a chance to celebrate the legacy of the Wildcats, reconnect with old friends and teammates, and support important local causes. Mark your calendars for March 10-14, 2025, and get ready to roar with Wildcat pride!

😊 Canyon & Pinehurst Celebrate Kindness 😊

Kindness Week was a huge success!

At Canyon Elementary, Mrs. Weaver, along with the Kindness Committee (a small group of 4th and 5th grade students), came up with ways for our students to focus on kindness. They planned a toy and blanket drive to benefit children at Sacred Heart and Shoshone Medical Center. Students also participated in kindness activities all week, focusing on different ways to be kind to others. Acts of kindness were reported and a star was earned for their class. In total, 345 stars were given-representing 345 acts of kindness. The 2nd grade class won the challenge with 97 stars! Way to go Canyon Cougars!

At Pinehurst Elementary, teacher Jocelyn Cano organized a week filled with the spirit of kindness with dress up days and random act of kindness activities. The character trait focus at PES for the whole month of February was kindness so the week was an opportunity to further encourage kindness at PES. Thank you Mrs. Cano for leading this kindness campaign to make PES a kind and caring place.

🎿 KMS Ski Club Hits the Slopes 🎿

This winter, students at Kellogg Middle School have had an incredible opportunity to experience the thrill of skiing and snowboarding, thanks to the KMS Ski Club. Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, the club has provided three all-inclusive trips to the world-class Silver Mountain Resort. Each trip includes equipment rentals, a lesson from experienced instructors, and a full day on the slopes, giving students everything they need to learn and enjoy these lifelong winter sports.

The KMS Ski Club is organized by dedicated KMS teacher Mimi Klein, with the help of several other faculty members who generously volunteer their time to chaperone the trips. Their commitment has made this fantastic program possible, allowing students to explore the beauty of Silver Mountain and develop new skills. While some trips have been blessed with bluebird skies and fresh powder, offering ideal conditions, others have faced less cooperative weather, requiring a few reschedulings. Despite the occasional weather challenges, the students’ enthusiasm has remained high.

Our KMS students are incredibly fortunate to have such a premier ski resort literally in their backyard. The partnership between Kellogg Middle School and Silver Mountain has been instrumental in making this program a success, providing an amazing opportunity for students to experience the joy and challenge of skiing and snowboarding. The school and community express their sincere gratitude to Silver Mountain for their support and for helping to create lasting memories for our students. A special thank you also goes out to KSD Food Services Director Leah Figueroa and the KMS kitchen staff for providing nutritious and delicious sack lunches for each of the ski trips, ensuring the students had the energy they needed to conquer the slopes. This experience not only introduces students to a healthy and enjoyable activity but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of the Silver Valley.

📆 Spring Conferences are Coming Up! 📆 Spring Conferences are Coming Up!

Parent/teacher conferences are important because they facilitate direct communication between parents and teachers about a student's academic progress, social-emotional well-being, and overall classroom experience. They provide a dedicated time to discuss strengths, weaknesses, and any concerns, allowing for collaborative problem-solving and the creation of a unified support system for the child. This partnership between home and school is crucial for student success. Keep an eye on your child's school calendars for updates on when conferences will be held later this month.

We are pleased to share that Heritage Health has expanded healthcare services available to students in the Kellogg School District. These new resources aim to provide convenient and accessible care for children and families in our community.

Psychiatric Services Now Available

For families seeking mental health support, psychiatric services are now offered every Wednesday at Heritage Health's Kellogg clinic. This provides a valuable resource for children and adolescents who may be experiencing mental health challenges. Having access to these services locally can make a significant difference in ensuring timely and appropriate care. Please contact the clinic directly for more information or to schedule an appointment 208-783-1267.

Pediatrician Availability on Non-School Fridays

In an effort to better serve families and align with non-school Fridays, local pediatrician Beth Martin, MD, is now available to see children on the first Friday of each month. This expanded availability aims to make it easier for parents to schedule appointments without disrupting their children's school schedules. Dr. Martin welcomes all children and has significant availability on these designated Fridays. We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for families to access quality pediatric care at a convenient time.

We believe that the health and well-being of our students are essential to their success in school and in life. These expanded healthcare services represent a commitment to supporting our community and ensuring that children have access to the care they need. We encourage families to take advantage of these valuable resources. For more information about scheduling appointments or accessing these services, please contact the clinic directly. We are proud to partner with local healthcare providers to offer these important services to the Kellogg School District community.
