Congratulations Congratulations

At the last board meeting, both Harrison Alexander and (to my great surprise) I were recognized by the board.

"Harrison Alexander was honored at the Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 for earning two CompTIA certifications.

The Humble High School Class of 2025 graduate earned not only the CompTIA ITF, which validates the foundational knowledge of IT, but also the globally recognized credential of CompTIA A+.

Harrison is the first student from Humble High School to achieve these distinctions. He was joined by his CompTIA instructor Scott Ford during the recognition.

The CompTIA ITF is a pre-career certification that introduces fundamental IT concepts and skills. It covers a range of IT topics including hardware, software, networking, security and troubleshooting. This serves as a stepping stone to more advanced certifications.

The CompTIA A+ is recognized by employers as a benchmark for IT support professionals. Today, many job postings for IT support roles specifically mention this certification as a requirement or desired qualification."

Texas is suing PowerSchool Texas is suing PowerSchool

Yesterday, news broke that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against PowerSchool—the company behind Schoology and Naviance—over the 2024 data breach that exposed the personal information of more than 880,000 students and teachers.

As many of you know, I’ve been raising concerns about PowerSchool and its products for several years. I will be addressing this latest development at the upcoming school board meeting.

Despite the severity of this breach, which is the largest known student data breach to date, our school board has yet to hold an open discussion about PowerSchool or its continued use in our district.

You can make your voice heard:

  • Email the board with your concerns.
  • Sign up to speak at the next board meeting.

Our students and teachers deserve transparency and stronger protections when it comes to their personal data.
