Principal Message
Pioneer Families,
I hope this message finds you well! I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of attendance in our school community. It is crucial for students to show up every day, as every day counts for their learning. Our goal is to achieve a 94% attendance rate, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Pioneers for the days when our attendance exceeds 95%. However, we have noticed that Mondays and Fridays continue to be our days with lower attendance, averaging around 90%. Together, we can move the needle in this important area! Please remember to submit any doctor's notes, emails, or written notes for absences. This helps us keep track of each child's attendance accurately.
In addition, students will soon complete Middle of the Year (MOY) testing. This valuable data helps us understand the needs of each child and plan the necessary supports, enrichment, or interventions tailored by our teachers. For our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, they will be taking their 2nd Interim Assessments for Reading and Math during the week of February 10th. We encourage you to help your child prepare with a good night's sleep and praise for their commitment to learning!
Looking ahead, we are in the process of planning for our March Intersession, scheduled for March 5th-7th. Students at the 34th percentile on MAP testing will be invited to attend. Please be on the lookout for permission slips to review and sign.
We are also excited to announce the start of I.M.P.A.C.T. (Improving Mastery Performance Acceleration Creativity Training) beginning February 6th. Selected students will receive invitations, and permission slips will be provided during parent-teacher conferences. I.M.P.A.C.T. will cover summer school days, with the exception of one week after school ends. The schedule for I.M.P.A.C.T. is as follows:
- 2nd Grade: Monday through Thursday
- Other Selected Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in February and March for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
Weekly hours will be from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with Saturday sessions scheduled from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Lastly, I want to assure you that our district has established protocols for administrators to follow regarding visits or requests made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.). We will adhere to these guidelines and ensure that any requests are reported appropriately.
Thank you for your continued collaboration and for entrusting us to inspire and empower your children to thrive!
It Starts With Us!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Vasquez
