Message from Principal Hernandez

Dear Lido Family,

Happy Summer! I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful year we have had together. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with your children and see them grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Our students have shown remarkable resilience and adaptability, and I am incredibly proud of the progress they have made. They have worked hard, asked insightful questions, and brought their unique perspectives to class discussions. They have formed friendships, discovered new interests and talents, and most importantly, they have learned to believe in themselves.

None of this would have been possible without the support and encouragement of our parents and guardians. Your involvement and commitment to your child's education have been invaluable, and I want to thank you for your partnership.

As we say goodbye to this academic year, I want to remind our students that they should be proud of themselves for all they have accomplished. They are capable of achieving great things, and I am excited to see what the future holds for each and every one of them.

I wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer break, filled with rest, relaxation, and lots of fun. I look forward to seeing our returning students next year and welcoming new faces to our school community. Our first day of school is Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Thank you again for a wonderful year. It has been an honor to be a part of your child's journey.

Sincerely,

Ivelisse Hernandez, Ed.D

Principal

Dr. Hernandez Favorite Books

One of my favorite things to do during the summer months is read. Here are a few of my new favorite read aloud books. Enjoy!

Courage Takes Practice: A Color Theory Storybook for Young Artists: A Color Theory Storybook for Young Artist by Amy Scheidegger Ducos

Titled "Courage Takes Practice," Amy Scheidegger Ducos wrote a story book to her daughter about making art and overcoming bullies. Based on her own childhood, wrote a book about a creative kid who gets bullied in a very specific way that she has not encountered in a children's book yet: only acknowledged when they are needed but invisible to the world when they are not. Weaved throughout the book are lessons of color theory, designed to help emerging arts know what colors to use in their own artwork when they want to convey certain emotions or moods.
