Quarterly Data Analysis Quarterly Data Analysis

As we roll into the spring semester, it is time for the next quarterly TIA data analysis. In the TEA Readiness Guide, as well as in the TIA Application Scoring Rubric, districts are expected to participate in quarterly data analysis. Last month and in November, TxCEE provided some tools to help with this process, and we’ll revisit them in this month’s newsletter below.

Data Collection Check-in

At this point in the year, districts should be halfway through their data collection on educator evaluation. You will want to check in on your data management dashboards or reports to see if that has been completed. Be sure to refer to your application (original and/or expansion/modification application) to be certain you are fulfilling all the collection requirements for your local system around educator evaluation. TxCEE has created a 25-26 Region 18/TxCEE Data Collection Timeline to help you identify deadlines and help in your data collection process.

Root Cause Analysis

To get started, it’s time to pull reports from your data management system on educator evaluation and student growth measures (SGMs), if they are available. With educator evaluation in hand, you should be looking for any areas of skew in that data set. Slice the data by grade/subject/campus/administrator and /or dimension level to look for any outliers. Remember, data does a great job of telling us what happened, but we supply the narrative for why those things happened. Take the time to conduct a root cause analysis on your findings, so that if there are any areas of concern, they can be remediated.

MOY Correlation Calculation

If you are using assessments that include a MOY check in, your district can run a mid-year correlation check on educator evaluation and SGM data. You will need completed evaluation scores and MOY SGM data to run this. Head over to your data management system’s dashboard/completion reports to see where things stand. By now, all BOY data and target setting should be complete. Check your district calendar and TIA application to ensure that all SGM data is accounted for, or that there is a plan in place to collect it all before the end of the year. Remember, correlation is the heaviest weighted check that TTU will perform on your data!
