Family Newsletter : September 18, 2026
Dear Families,
I hope you’ve had a productive and happy week! Our character theme this month is Connection, and I’ve loved seeing it come to life throughout our school.
This week, I watched our junior high students strengthen friendships and build community during Fall Exploration Camp at North Fork Park. Back at school, I saw our Lower Elementary students helping kindergarteners find their way to class—small acts of kindness that help every child feel like they belong.
Connection is built in moments like these: helping someone, including others, working together, and simply noticing when someone needs a friend. Thank you for helping us build a school community where every child feels known, supported, and connected.
Thanks for supporting our Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A! We earned over $500! Next week Girls soccer games are at Syracuse Arts Academy on Tuesday and Mound Fort on Friday. There’s also a Cross Country Meet on Thursday.
We can’t wait to see you at the Fall Festival on Friday from 4:30-7:30! Get tickets at this link https://maria-montessori-academy.square.site/fall-festival and you can also sign up to help with the games at this link https://www.wejoinin.com/sheets/ixcim. We’re also accepting donations for treats and trinkets, the class with the most donations gets to pick the dunk tank participants!
Below are some resources shared with us by some of our partners. Please take a look if you’re interested.
Parenting Kids in Turbulent Times: Conversations That Build Connection, Courage, and Well-Being — Oct. 22, Noon (Panelists: Dr. Christy Kane, Jessica Holzbauer, and Dr. Brian Higginbotham)
Breaking the Cycle: ACEs, Trauma, and Utah’s Path to Healthier Children — Nov. 5, Noon (Panelists: Dr. R. Neal Davis, Holly Willard, Dr. Brooks Keeshin, and Sage Hancock)
Next Tuesday, we will conduct a Lockdown Drill at school. The North Ogden Police Department will be present to support us during the drill.
We recognize that these types of drills can feel stressful for both students and families. Unfortunately, practicing how to respond in an emergency is a necessary part of keeping our school community safe and prepared. Our staff will approach the drill in a calm, age-appropriate way, with an emphasis on practicing procedures rather than creating fear.
We encourage families to talk with their children about the drill in a reassuring way: just like we practice fire drills, we practice lockdown procedures so students and staff know what to do if an emergency ever occurs.
Our goal is always to help students feel safe, supported, and prepared while maintaining a peaceful learning environment. Below is a link to a video you may be interested in and our Emergency procedures are also linked.
