Did you Know!!
A HUGE SHOUT OUT to the SBMH Team for all of their hard work and dedication to our Corbett Cardinals!
In April 2025, Corbett was notified about the federal government's cancellation of the School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant. Corbett has worked to have the least impact on students as possible. Corbett will now have two full-time counselors who will continue to work alongside Corbett School District's two MESD school psychologists, serving grades K-12. As of December, Corbett's SBMH social workers and counselors took new positions either within the district or outside the district. Corbett truly appreciates their hard work supporting Corbett students under the SBMH Grant. There is a K-12 plan in place to support students in our schools. Corbett principals have been working as a team over the past few months to create an updated schedule for counseling support in the buildings starting January 2026. Please reach out to your building principal if you have any questions.

HS Women's Basketball
The women’s basketball program held a two day winter youth basketball camp for grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade and 4th through 8th grade. We had 95 campers attend camp, 65 in the younger group and 30 in the older group. The camp was a huge success. Every camper was given a camp t-shirt and we also awarded camper of the day prizes to several campers each day. Thank you to the women’s basketball players for volunteering their first two days of winter break to coach the camp.

District Wide News
From the Health Room
Your health team at Corbett has been busy with many tasks to make sure the students and staff are staying healthy.
One important task is to check on immunization records and help families know which ones students still need before Exclusion Day on February 25, 2026.
Here are some changes according to the Oregon Health Authority:
• Change #1: Exclusion Day has been moved from the 3rd Wednesday in February to the 4th Wednesday in February.
• Change #2: Physicians will fill out a form rather than write a letter for a medical exemption.
• Change #3: Children who have a history of varicella (chickenpox) disease will need health care provider verification or lab test instead of parent verification.
“Some people choose not to vaccinate for personal, religious, or philosophical reasons and they can claim a nonmedical exemption to some or all immunizations. To claim a nonmedical exemption for children in child care, preschool, K-12, or college, visit the Nonmedical Vaccine Exemptions page.”
Cheryl Reams, School Health Assistant, is happy to answer any questions regarding your specific student’s immunizations that are not current. You can reach her at (503-261-4258).
Multnomah County Student Health Centers are a good resource for immunizations. The closest Health Center to Corbett is at Reynolds High School. You can call 503-988-3340 for an appointment.
Wishing all our students, staff, and families a strong and healthy 2026!
