Dear Argyle ISD Families, Dear Argyle ISD Families,

August has been an exciting start to what promises to be a significant year for Argyle ISD. Across our district, students are back in classrooms, new spaces are coming to life, and years of planning for our continued growth are becoming a reality.

This school year is about more than opening new facilities. It is about preparing well for what comes next while staying focused on what matters most right now. As we begin the transition toward two high schools, navigate new state requirements, and continue refining how we serve students, we are also being intentional about the experiences we want for every student in every classroom, every day.

There is a lot happening in Argyle ISD, but our measure of success remains simple: Are our students known, challenged, supported, and given every opportunity to grow and achieve?

That focus will continue to guide our decisions throughout this important year.

Enrollment & Class Sizes Enrollment & Class Sizes

Argyle ISD continues to experience steady enrollment growth. We currently serve 6,788 students, an increase of more than 110 students since the first day of school.

As enrollment continues to change throughout the year, our team closely monitors student counts, class sizes, staffing, and available space across every campus and grade level. Maintaining balanced class sizes remains a district priority, and we will continue making adjustments where needed to support our teachers and provide the learning environment we expect for every Argyle ISD student.

Settling Into the School Year Settling Into the School Year

With the first few weeks of the 2026–2027 school year behind us, our campuses are fully back in the rhythm of teaching and learning. Students are building relationships, teachers are establishing high expectations, and classrooms are filled with the energy that comes with a fresh start.

I have enjoyed being back on our campuses and seeing firsthand the great work already underway. From engaging classroom experiences to outstanding performances in athletics, fine arts, academics, and extracurricular activities, our students and staff continue to demonstrate what excellence looks like across Argyle ISD.

As we move into September, I am excited about the momentum we have built and all that lies ahead for our students this year.

Less Screen Time. More Intentional Technology Use. Less Screen Time. More Intentional Technology Use.

One important area of focus this year is our continued effort to reduce unnecessary screen time and ensure technology is used intentionally in our classrooms.

Technology can be an incredibly valuable instructional tool, but it should never replace great teaching, meaningful discussion, collaboration, hands-on learning, reading, writing, or the relationships that are foundational to student success.

Across Argyle ISD, we are continuing to evaluate when technology enhances learning and when another instructional approach better serves students. We have also established clear technology commitments to our families as we work toward a thoughtful, balanced approach to technology use across the district.

Our goal is not simply more technology or less technology. It is the right tool, at the right time, for the right instructional purpose.

Soaring Together 2026 & Beyond Soaring Together 2026 & Beyond

The work of preparing Argyle ISD for its next chapter continues through our Soaring Together 2026 & Beyond transition planning.

We officially launched our website during the summer of 2025 as a major step in preparing for one of the most significant transitions in our district’s history — moving from one middle school and one high school to two middle schools and two high schools.

Since that work began, there have been numerous opportunities for our families and community to learn about the transition and provide input.

In October 2025, we held a parent meeting specifically for families zoned to the East side of the district. Last spring, opening configurations and transition planning were discussed at three public board meetings, providing additional opportunities for our community to hear the options under consideration and understand the decisions ahead.

That work continues this fall.

On September 9, we will host a parent meeting specifically for families of students in the Legacy High School Classes of 2030 and 2031. This meeting will provide important information about the transition, opening configurations, timelines, and decisions that will affect these students as we prepare for the opening of Argyle Legacy High School.

I encourage families to continue visiting our Soaring Together 2026 & Beyond website, where you can find our district story, values and achievements, information about enrollment growth, our path forward, transition resources, and frequently asked questions.

One of the most visible examples of our district's growth is already here.

This year, we proudly opened the doors to Scott Gibson Middle School, providing a beautiful new learning environment for our students and marking an important milestone in our long-range facilities plan.

We look forward to officially celebrating the opening with our Scott Gibson Middle School Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:30 p.m.

This campus represents much more than a new building. It represents years of planning, the continued support of our community, and an important investment in the future of Argyle ISD. Just as importantly, it carries forward the legacy of Mr. Scott Gibson, whose life of service, leadership, and commitment to students left a lasting impact on our district and community. As generations of students walk through the doors of Scott Gibson Middle School, we are proud that his name — and the example he set — will remain part of the Argyle ISD story for years to come.

Last Friday night was another special moment in Argyle ISD history as our community experienced the new Argyle ISD Stadium for its first Friday night football game.

There is something special about Friday nights in Argyle ISD — students, families, staff, alumni, and community members coming together to support our Eagles and celebrate the traditions that connect generations of Argyle families.

Opening this new stadium is another milestone made possible through the support and investment of our community, and it was incredible to see it come to life.

As Argyle ISD grows, staying connected with our community becomes even more important.

This year, our Board of Trustees will begin hosting Community Listening Circles designed to create additional opportunities for trustees to hear directly from parents, staff, and community members.

Our first Community Listening Circle will be held on Sept. 30 at Jane Ruestmann Elementary School. We will be in the library beginning at 5 p.m.

These conversations are another way for us to listen, learn, and remain connected to the community we serve as we navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with growth.

Homecoming Is Coming! Homecoming Is Coming!

One of our favorite Argyle traditions is right around the corner.

Argyle High School Homecoming is Friday, Sept. 25, and we look forward to a week filled with school spirit, traditions, student activities, and opportunities for our entire community to celebrate together.

As we prepare for new schools and new traditions in the years ahead, moments like Homecoming are also important reminders of the history and traditions upon which our district has been built.

Looking Ahead Looking Ahead

There is a tremendous amount happening in Argyle ISD — and there is even more ahead.

We are opening new schools and facilities. We are preparing students and families for the transition to two high schools. We are adjusting to new state requirements. We are being more intentional about technology and screen time. We are creating new opportunities for our community to engage with district leadership. And every day, our teachers and staff continue doing the most important work of all: serving our students.

Growth will continue to bring change, but growth does not have to change who we are.

Our responsibility is to preserve the very best of Argyle ISD — our relationships, traditions, high expectations, community pride, and commitment to excellence — while having the courage and vision to prepare for what comes next.

Thank you to our staff, families, students, Board of Trustees, and community for continuing to Soar Together.

It is going to be an exciting year in Argyle ISD!
