What’s New from Admin
Dear Selma Middle School Families,
What an incredible first week of school! The energy in our building has been unmatched, and we are so proud of how our students have started the year—with focus, excitement, and a commitment to learning. We also want to thank our parents for your partnership and patience as we continue to fine-tune a few bus routes. Your support makes all the difference.
As we move into our second week, we want to keep a few important reminders at the forefront:
⏰ Arrive by 7:45 AM – The school day begins at 7:55, and students must be in their classroom seats ready to learn by 7:55, not just entering the building. Arriving by 7:45 gives students time to get breakfast, go to their lockers, and settle into class. Students arriving after 7:55 will be marked tardy.
📊 Attendance Matters – Consistent attendance is key to academic success. Every class, every day counts!
🚫 Early Checkouts – Please remember students should only be signed out early for JCPS excused reasons such as medical appointments, illness, or emergencies.
🍽️ Lunch & School Pride – We are encouraging all students to take pride in their school by helping keep our cafeteria clean. A great way to show responsibility is by cleaning up after themselves and lending a hand to make sure our shared spaces stay welcoming for everyone. Parents, this is also a great opportunity to talk with your child about pride—taking care of the spaces you are a part of shows respect, responsibility, and community spirit.
We are so excited for what this school year holds. Together, we are building a culture where every student has the opportunity to Learn More, Do More, Be More!
With gratitude,
SeMS School Administration

Written excuses must be turned in THE DAY AFTER the student returns to school.
Bus App for Parents/Guardians
Parents/Guardians should use the link below to add the app to their phone to track their students bus!
Reminder: During the first couple of weeks of school, bus drivers are still learning their routes and new students may be added. Because of this, buses could run up to 15 minutes earlier or later than the scheduled time. Please plan to allow a little extra time at your bus stop as routes settle in.
