Reminder Food Support for Families
In partnership with the Merrimack Valley Food Bank and the Operation Nourish program we are able to offer families a bag of non-perishable grocery items every 2 weeks on Fridays. The bag of groceries will be delivered to Byam and can be sent home with your student on Fridays at the end of the school day. Alternatively, families may opt to come to Byam on Friday afternoons between 2:30 and 3:00pm to pick up the bag of groceries. The program is ongoing throughout the school year. This program is anonymous and optional, no form is required, and families may opt out at any time.
If this program is something that your family would benefit from, please reach out to Nurse Pappo, pappoe@chelmsford.k12.ma.us or the school counselor, Mrs. Tuccelli, at tuccellil@chelmsford.k12.ma.us . Please indicate if you wish for the groceries to be sent home with your student or if you will be picking up the grocery bags at Byam. Byam Weekly Announcements
Message from the Nurse's Office
Hello Families,
We are seeing an increase in stomach illnesses at school. Vomiting and diarrhea are often caused by viruses that spread very easily, especially among children in close contact with one another.
Common symptoms may include:
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Stomach cramps
Low-grade fever
Fatigue
These illnesses are usually short-lived (1–3 days), but they can spread quickly if precautions are not taken.
Please keep your child home if they are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea.
Students should remain home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. This helps prevent spreading illness to classmates and staff.
Helpful tips at home:
Encourage small sips of clear fluids to prevent dehydration.
Offer bland foods once vomiting stops (toast, rice, crackers, bananas).
Wash hands frequently with soap and water — especially after using the bathroom and before eating.
Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
If your child shows signs of dehydration (very dry mouth, no tears when crying, urinating much less than usual, extreme sleepiness) or symptoms last more than a few days, please contact your healthcare provider.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Nurse Pappo.

BYAM'S GOT TALENT UPDATES
Program Messages for Performers
For the Byam’s Got Talent show this year we are trying something new out! Parents, families or friends can place a “Good Luck” message in the talent show program/playbill. Each “Good Luck” message will cost $5. The money will go directly to the BSA (Byam’s PTO that pays for all school field trips, school supply support for teachers, pays for the talent show venue, and much more).
Please visit the BSA’s website if you would like to purchase a “Good Luck” message to be placed in the talent show program for your performer or Emcee. Please click this Link to Good Luck Program Message Form to be brought directly to the form. Please keep all messages limited to a sentence or two.
We again are asking local businesses if they are interested in advertising in the talent show program. A half page ad is $30 and a full page ad is $60. The talent show usually has a full house of 400+ local audience members who will be seeing your ad in our program!
