Hello stallion families,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We do not have our official total yet, but we know that we raised a little over $50,000 through our Apex fundraise. This exceeded our goal, and we could not be more excited. As soon as we receive the funds, we will begin getting bids and moving forward with adding permanent tables and seating to our outdoor area. In addition, we will be looking at purchasing some amazing instructional materials for our classrooms. We are so proud of our Sunfield community and the way everyone comes together to support our Stallions.

We have reached that time of year when it is chilly in the mornings but warms up quite a bit in the afternoons. This means our Stallions often take off their jackets, sweatshirts, and coats and leave them in various places around the building. While our teachers will continue reminding students to keep track of their belongings, we could use your help! Please make sure your student's full name is written inside their jackets, sweatshirts, and coats. This makes it much easier for us to return lost items to their owners. At the end of each month, we go through our lost and found and return all labeled items before donating anything that remains.

Hays CISD campuses will accept referrals for gifted and talented services until October 31st.

Referrals can be made in two different ways. The first option is to complete an online referral at THIS LINK. The second option is to complete a paper referral. Copies of the paper referral form are available in the front office of each campus and should be returned to the campus counselor.

Assessments will be conducted from November through January. Evaluation of student data and selection of services occur in February. Parents are notified by email in March of the final determination of services.

For the month of December, the guidance lesson for grades Kinder-5th will be on Personal Safety. Both counselors will be facilitating this lesson.

The lesson teaches children skills that will help keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations.

Children will learn the Protect Yourself Rules:

-Stranger Safety

-Tell a grown-up

-Safe touch, unsafe touch

-Shout, Run, Tell

-Hitting is wrong

-Doesn’t matter who it is

The program’s main goal is to educate children about what to do when confronted with abusive behavior, safe and unsafe touches, going to a parent or another trusted adult if they are confronted in an unsafe situation, and that it is not their fault.

A form must be completed for each individual child. You have 30 days to complete this form before the lesson will begin. If you don't complete this form your child will not be a part of the December lessons.

We are excited to welcome families to our Thanksgiving Lunches on November 17, 18, and 19. Please see the assigned dates and times below.

A few important reminders:

If you would like to enjoy the district's traditional Thanksgiving meal from the cafeteria, please plan to attend on Tuesday, November 17, even if that is not your grade level's assigned day. This is the only day the district will be serving the official Thanksgiving meal. Visitors who would like to purchase this meal should scan the QR code below. (2nd flyer)

If you plan to bring your own food and enjoy lunch with your student, please try to attend on your grade level's assigned day and time.
