CSD Weekly Update

FIRST LEGO League Competition
This past Saturday, Klinger Middle School hosted its 4th annual FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifying Tournament. Of the 18 teams that participated, 10 were from our elementary and middle schools. We had a great day of sharing innovation projects, in which students researched problems surrounding archaeology and presented their solutions to judges, and showcasing our LEGO robots. Congratulations to Log College Middle School's Red Team for having the highest robot score among our teams. Davis Elementary's Silver Team took home the Innovation Project Award and Willow Dale's Gold Team won the Breakthrough Award.
A very special congratulations to Mrs. Tonkinson from McDonald Elementary for being nominated by her students and winning the Coach/Mentor Award.
All 79 students who participated in our FIRST LEGO League program did an amazing job. They worked together, learned new things, and overcame serious perseverance. Students should be very proud of themselves!
Klinger's STEM and FCS Students Created Magic!
Klinger’s 7th-grade Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Family Consumer Science (FCS) classes collaborated to participate in the Cookie Wars competition. The FCS students were responsible for making and decorating the cookies, while the STEM students designed and 3D-printed the cookie cutters and constructed the displays for the cookies. Both groups presented their creations to a panel of judges. Well done to everyone involved!
CSD Students Exploring the Betty Huf Planetarium
Our elementary students embarked on an extraordinary journey into the cosmos the past few weeks, visiting the Betty Huf Planetarium at William Tennent High School.
They were captivated by the shimmering constellations and the mysteries of deep space, exploring the wonders of the universe. This out-of-this-world experience brought their science lessons to life in a dazzling manner. We are incredibly proud of our students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for the unknown!
Willow Dale LEGO Robotics Wins at Competition
Willow Dale’s LEGO Robotic teams had an exciting, and successful, time at their FIRST Robotics competition! With months of hard work behind them, our two teams showed off their incredible skills in building, coding, problem-solving, and teamwork.
After spending countless after-school hours designing robots, troubleshooting programs, and learning how to collaborate like true engineers, both teams rose to the challenge. Competing against many talented schools, Willow Dale proudly placed 7th and 10th overall.
A special congratulations goes to our Gold Team, who earned the prestigious Breakthrough Award. This award recognizes exceptional teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm, and the Gold Team truly embodied all three. Their positive attitude, innovative thinking, and support for one another impressed the judges.
We are so proud of both teams for their dedication, perseverance, and teamwork. Willow Dale’s LEGO Robotic teams proved that when you work together, great things can be built: one brick at a time!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We’re excited to share that our district will be launching an updated version of the Parent Portal over winter break. This upgrade will provide a more streamlined, user-friendly experience for parents and guardians accessing district digital resources. If interested in learning more, visit the ClassLink Parent Portal overview.
Why the Update
This enhanced Parent Portal is designed to provide families with a more comprehensive and intuitive experience. The update will make it easier for parents to track their children's engagement with school-approved digital resources by providing clear usage analytics for each student. It will also streamline access by allowing parents to log in using a Gmail or Microsoft account and personalize their dashboard to better match their needs. Additionally, stronger integration with district systems reduces the likelihood of login issues and helps ensure a more reliable experience for families.
When This Will Happen and What to Expect
We will be rolling out the updated Parent Portal STARTING MONDAY, DECEMBER 22. Once the new Parent Portal becomes available ON MONDAY, you can claim your account and get access to the updated portal with the following instructions: Parent Portal - Account Claiming - Google Docs.
Thank you for your cooperation as we make this important upgrade to improve our communication and resource delivery.
Spring Sports Begin March 2nd
ALL Physicals MUST BE DATED AFTER MAY 1, 2025.
Liberty Urgent Care will continue to provide athletic physicals for the District at a cost of $55 per student. All students should indicate that they are from the Centennial School District when scheduling or arriving for their appointment.
Congratulations to Senior Avery Kocur for Making History!
The Girls Basketball team kept the momentum rolling last night with a 63–45 win over Springfield!
A huge congratulations to senior Avery Kocur, who, with 4:11 remaining in the game, knocked down a three-pointer to score her 1,000th career point. Kocur becomes the first William Tennent High School girls basketball player in 34 years to reach this incredible milestone.
Kocur's coach, Laura Whitney, could not be prouder: "Avery has been a starter on the Varsity basketball team since her freshman year. A three-time First Team All-League selection, she was also recognized by coaches across the division last season and named Co-MVP of the Freedom Division. Avery is the epitome of a team player—she leads by example, brings a tremendous work ethic every day, and consistently elevates those around her.
I couldn't be more prouder or happier to see Avery reach this incredible milestone. It’s a testament to how hard she works—but even more impressive is the incredible person she is."
An unforgettable moment and a well-deserved accomplishment for a player who has put in so much work—congrats, Avery!
