Shoreham Elementary School
"You Belong Here"
Principal's Update
SES Community,
We started this month off with learning that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which means we are supposed to have six more weeks of winter .Our students are really excited about having more winter-like weather so they can go sledding down the hill in the back of the school during recess. I have to say that this has been a great opportunity for students across grade levels to connect and share in a positive adventure.
Ms. Muskopf's 4 / 5 class shared their learning about the states at our last all school assembly. They did a great job at asking questions of our student body. For example: What is the state insect for the state of Pennsylvania?
It was great to see and hear the pride students had about their work.
We also hit the 100th day mark last Friday. It was great to see how our K- 3 students and teachers collaborated on 100th day by having students counting out 100 cups and stacking them up to make a tower and counting out 100 unifix cubes and seeing if they are taller than the cubes .
We also had the pleasure of having Shelburne Farms come for 1 / 2 a day. They took each class outside to do some observing of the environment and looking at animal tracks . It was great to hear about the things that students discovered.
As we approach the last week before vacation our student council connected with our student body to share about Spirit Week . Below you will find a description for each day. Each day has two different spirit day theme options. We hope this is a way for students to connect and celebrate with each other while maintaining a strong sense of community.
Best,

Our school board policy E21 limits the distribution of “non school sponsored literature”. Organizations sometimes ask schools directly to share a flier/event/resource and sometimes the district office receives the request. If the request comes to your school, please check the policy sections (a)-(h) which spells out materials we are prohibited from sharing. The most frequent ones we have to decline are materials “(f) Is primarily of a commercial nature, including but not limited to all material that primarily seeks to advertise for sale products or services; or (g) Whose primary purpose is fund-raising.]
