NES Parent Newsletter 10/6/25
October 6, 2025

Dear NES Families,
Thank you to all the families who attended our New World Reading event! We are thrilled to share that it was our most attended event yet—your support makes a huge difference!
The Read-A-Thon is in full swing, and we are excited to see so many students logging their reading minutes. Keep encouraging your child to read each day—it’s a great way to celebrate their progress and build lifelong reading habits!
Book fair information is included below—be sure to check it out for some exciting new reads.
Mark your calendars for our annual Spooktacular on October 28th! This year, the event will feature fun Halloween activities with a focus on math, so get ready for some spooky learning and excitement!
A reminder that the end of the 9 weeks is Friday, October 10th. Please ensure that your student has all missing work completed and turned in as soon as possible. Additionally, there will be no school for students on Monday, October 13th.
We have changed the awards date from October 15th to October 20th, this will allow teachers to have grades fully finalized and parents time to make arrangements to attend if they would like to.
Just a reminder, food is not allowed on the school bus. Students can not have open candy, suckers, popsicles, or open containers of food. For example, if your student has cupcakes for a birthday, they can not take the leftovers on the bus with them.
If your student is missing a jacket, please ask your child to check on the stage during breakfast or lunch. Any jackets left at the end of this week (10/10) will be donated.
Thank you for your continued support in making our school a wonderful place for learning and fun!
With gratitude and positivity,
Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal
Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

NES Read-A-Thon
It's time for the North Elementary Read-A-Thon!
Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Wednesday October 1, 2025 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event.
We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.
This account will serve as a hub for recording and monitoring your child's progress as a Reader in the event, and for you to share their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family. Use the link below to activate your student's Reader account:

Energy Bus
This month's focus: I'm the Driver
This week, our students are learning an important lesson from the Energy Bus: they are the drivers of their own lives! We are encouraging them to take personal responsibility, make positive choices, and focus on what they can control.
Being the driver means that instead of blaming others or giving up when challenges come up, students look for solutions, make smart decisions, and take small steps each day toward their goals. Whether it’s completing homework, practicing a skill, or being kind to others, they have the power to steer themselves in the right direction.
At home, you can support this by asking your child to share one choice they can make this week that will help them succeed. Celebrate their efforts and growth—it’s all about taking charge and moving forward with confidence!
Thank you for your partnership in helping us spread kindness and positive energy!
Menu for this Week
