Our students are learning, growing, and making great progress, and we are excited for a wonderful second semester ahead. We have many exciting things happening this month, so be sure to check out the sections below to stay up to date.
Our mid-year Soaring Jets Award Assembly will take place on Thursday, February 12, for students in grades K–5. Families of students being recognized should have already received an email or will be receiving one soon. We look forward to celebrating our Jets who are demonstrating SOARING attendance, behavior, and academic achievement.
As your principal, it is very important to me that everyone who walks through our doors—students, staff, parents, and families—feels welcomed and valued. I strongly believe in open communication and a strong home-school partnership. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Hunt

DEVICES COME HOME ON WEDNESDAYS!
As a reminder, we send student devices home once per week so that students and families are in the routine, just in case we have to pivot to remote learning during the next few months.
- MIDWEST CITY ELEMENTARY WILL SEND DEVICES HOME ON WEDNESDAYS.
- THE DEVICE MUST BE RETURNED THE NEXT DAY FOR STUDENT USE AT SCHOOL
- students will complete a simple task in SeeSaw or Canvas for the evening when the device comes home so that the student and guardian can practice navigating the platform
- Here is the link to the district IT information for parents: Mid-Del's 1:1 Technology Initiative.
- Chargers will not be sent home with students. Devices will be charged before sending them.
EARLY ARRIVALS
Morning Drop-Off Reminder
We want to remind families that students who are not eating breakfast at school will not be allowed to enter the building until 8:30 AM. If you're dropping your child off in the morning, please plan to arrive as close to 8:30 AM as possible.
We understand that some students arrive early due to bus schedules or other circumstances. Please know that staff supervision does not begin until 8:30 AM, as that is when our teachers’ contracted day starts. Until then, students waiting outside are unsupervised.
If your child must arrive a few minutes early, or rides the bus and gets here before 8:30 AM, please speak with them about lining up calmly outside the front entrance and waiting patiently to be let in. Lately, we've seen an increase in students not following this expectation, and some behaviors have become disruptive.
While we encourage students to be social and enjoy time with friends, we ask that they do so respectfully and in an orderly manner. If disruptive behavior continues, we will need to contact families, and those students may be required to wait until 8:30 AM to be dropped off.
Thank you for your help in keeping our mornings safe and smooth for everyone!
TARDIES AND EARLY CHECKOUTS
Please make sure your child is getting to school on time everyday! We start our instructional day right away at 9:00am! We have our school-wide intervention & enrichment time shortly after the start of school. This is a very important time of day when your child receives targeted, individualized instruction based on their academic needs. We need students in class on time! Remember, three tardies OR three early check-outs equal an absence!
