Ellis PTA Newsletter - October 2026
Thank you for joining us at Movie Night to watch Minions and Monsters. We had a great turnout!
As your students have started settling into the school year, we welcome you to take an active role in their education by joining the PTA and volunteering when you can.
Here are some ways to participate this month.
Friday, October 2 - Eat for Ellis at Chuck E. Cheese
Join us at Chuck E. Cheese in Cupertino tomorrow (Friday, October 2) from 1-9 p.m. for pizza and arcade games! Remember to mention Ellis, and 20% of proceeds will benefit our school.
Friday, October 16 - Coffee with the Principal
Join Ms. Fischer for Coffee with the Principal on Friday, October 16 from 8:30-9 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided by the PTA.
Wednesday, October 21 - Staff Snacks from Fifth Grade Families
All fifth grade families are invited to donate one snack item to the staff lounge to express our appreciation for all that our staff do for our students every day. Please sign up to bring one item.
Thursday, October 22 - Trunk or Treat at Ellis Main Parking Lot
Honk honk! Bring your decorated car to our annual Ellis Trunk or Treat. Trunk or Treat is similar to Trick or Treat, except kids collect goodies from car trunks in a parking lot rather than going from house to house. Costumes are optional; you are welcome to dress up and join the fun!
We need a lot of volunteers to decorate their trunks and hand out PTA-provided candy! Please sign up to help at the event.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, October 27-29 - Eat for Ellis at Five Guys
In the mood for burgers and fries? Ellis families have three days to pick from – Tuesday, October 27, Wednesday, October 28 or Thursday, October 29 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.– to eat at Five Guys. Mention Ellis and 25% of proceeds will go to our school.
Save the Date November 2-13 for Exceptional Ellis Experiences Auction
The Exceptional Ellis Experiences Online Auction is returning this year! This fundraiser has been an amazing way for students to connect with teachers and create lasting memories outside of the regular classroom setting. Thank you to all of our staff for giving the “gift of time”! Mark your calendars for this online auction, which will run from November 2-13!
Register for After School Programs
The fall 2026 session of after school programs has started! Classes run from September through December or January (exact dates depend on program).
Please check the Ellis PTA website for the program schedule and all program details, including how to register. Some classes accept registration on a rolling basis, such as Sculpting with Modeling Clay and Coding and Game Design.
PTA-Sponsored Programs & Activities
The following PTA-funded student activities will take place this month. Ask your children about these events:
October 13 - First grade field trip to Spina Farms, paid for by the PTA
October 15 - Wildmind Science Assembly - All grade levels will see the Animals of the Rainforest presentation on campus.
Ellis Spiritwear
The Ellis Spiritwear store is now closed. The vendor is printing the apparel and will send it to school in the coming weeks. For those of you who purchased spiritwear, it will come home with your student once we receive the shipment.

PTA Fall Fundraiser
Thank you for your interest and involvement in your child’s school! One final way to help is to donate directly to the PTA. You should have received a letter in your child’s Eagle folder. A donation amount of $150 per student is suggested, but donations of any amount are helpful and go directly towards Ellis students.
So far, we have raised over $17,500 and our goal is to raise $25,000. If your company offers matching donations, your donation can go twice as far!
TB clearance
All adult volunteers must have a current TB clearance. TB clearance is valid for four (4) years.
If your TB clearance on file is still current, you do not need to submit a new one. If your TB clearance has expired, please obtain an updated TB clearance and upload the documentation to your Better Impact account.
Fingerprinting
All adult volunteers are now required to complete fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, regardless of the type of volunteer service they provide.
If you have already completed fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, you do not need to complete fingerprinting again. Fingerprinting is a one-time requirement with our District.
If you were fingerprinted through another agency or school district, you will need to complete fingerprinting specifically for the Sunnyvale School District.
Complete the District's Mandated Volunteer Training
All volunteers are required to complete the District's mandated volunteer training before volunteering. Complete the Mandated Volunteer Training
For step-by-step instructions on how to register: Mandated Volunteer Training Registration Instructions
After completing the training, please save your certificate of completion and upload it to your Better Impact account.
