Dear Delco Elementary School Families,

We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our new principal, Mr. Henry Castellanos, who will be taking over the leadership of Delco Elementary!

We are excited to begin this new chapter. Mr. Castellanos brings a deep commitment to student success and experience that will be invaluable to our community.

As we transition to new leadership, we want to assure you that the important work we do every day continues without interruption. Our dedicated teachers and staff remain focused on our school’s mission: nurturing and educating every child in a safe and supportive environment. We are proud of the progress our students have made, and we will move forward together, building on the strong foundation of excellence and community that defines Delco Elementary.

The work continues, and we are confident that under Mr. Castellanos's leadership, our school will continue to succeed.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Castellanos to the Delco family. We will be announcing opportunities for families to meet him in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Character Trait for November is Honesty Character Trait for November is Honesty

Here are practical tips for parents to talk with their students about honesty, using November as a timely hook.

🍂 Make the November Connection: Honesty & Gratitude

November is the month of Thanksgiving, which is built on gratitude and trust. Use this as your conversation starter.

  • Connect Honesty to Trust: "This month, we think about what we're thankful for. I'm so thankful for our family. One thing that makes our family strong is trust. And the only way to have trust is with honesty."

  • Discuss Thankfulness: "How does it feel when you know a friend is telling you the truth? It makes you feel safe and thankful for them, right? That's what honesty does—it builds strong, trustworthy friendships."

đź’¬ Define What Honesty Really Means

Go beyond just "don't lie." Explain that honesty is a bigger concept. Break it down into three parts:

  1. Truthful Words: This is the one everyone knows—saying what is true and not telling lies, even "small" ones.

  2. Truthful Actions: This means not cheating on a test, not stealing, and playing by the rules. It's about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

  3. Taking Responsibility: This is a key part of honesty. It means admitting when you've made a mistake, even if you're afraid you'll get in trouble. "Honesty is owning your actions, good or bad."

Thank you for arriving to school on time!

We are writing to extend a heartfelt thank you for your incredible effort in getting your children to school on time each morning. Seeing our students arrive by 7:30 AM, settled and ready to learn, makes a tremendous difference in their day and in our entire school community.

When students are here on time, they have the chance to ease into the school day, greet their teachers and friends, and prepare their minds for learning. This smooth start prevents them from missing crucial opening instructions and the first few minutes of a lesson, which often set the stage for the day's activities.

Your partnership in prioritizing punctuality ensures that every child benefits from every possible minute of instructional time. It also helps instill a valuable life skill of responsibility and respect for schedules.

We know that mornings can be hectic, and we sincerely appreciate the commitment you make to start your child's day off right. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and it is a vital part of your child's success.

Thank you for helping us make every moment count.
