School News
All students have been issued a locker and combination lock. Students are expected to use their lockers to securely store personal belongings throughout the school day.
Students should:
- Secure their cell phone in their assigned locker at the beginning of the school day and keep it there all day.
- Store backpacks, coats, personal items, and other belongings in their assigned locker.
- Visit their locker as needed to retrieve only the materials necessary for their upcoming class(es).
- Avoid carrying unnecessary belongings throughout the building.
- Return to their locker at appropriate times rather than making frequent or unnecessary trips.
NWEA Map Testing
We have officially begun NWEA MAP Growth testing, and testing will continue through September 3rd. MAP Growth assessments help us understand each student's current academic strengths and areas for growth in reading and mathematics.
During this testing window, we ask families to help students do their best by:
● Ensuring students get a good night's sleep.
● Encouraging students to eat breakfast each morning.
● Making sure students arrive at school on time and ready to learn.
● Reminding students to take their time and do their best.
● Encouraging students to view the assessment as an opportunity to show what they know.
Arrival and Dismissal
Our arrival and dismissal procedures are now flowing smoothly. With buses lining up in the parking lot and student pick-up taking place at the front of the school, traffic is moving efficiently and safely.
R.I.S.E.
At Shiloh Park Intermediate School, RISE represents the expectations we have for ourselves and our students:
R — Respect Everyone
I — Act with Integrity
S — Choose Safety
E — Pursue Excellence
Each month, we will focus on one of these values and help students understand what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like in our school community.
August and September Focus: RESPECT
This month, we are focusing on Respect Everyone. We are teaching students that respect means treating classmates, staff, and themselves with kindness, listening when others are speaking, following directions, using appropriate language, and making choices that demonstrate care for our school community.
We encourage families to reinforce this message at home by talking with your child about what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like in everyday situations.
Together, we can help our Roadrunners RISE!
