Dear Lipscomb Families,

In light of recent events, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible value of our school community and the role it plays in the lives of our students and families. Every day, we open our doors with one goal in mind: to welcome each student and their family as a vital part of our Pride.

We take immense pride in the diverse tapestry of experiences and backgrounds that enrich our school.

The presence of immigrant students and staff walking our halls is a cornerstone of what makes Lipscomb special. As an IB World School, the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just words—they are the heartbeat of our campus and the foundation of our work together. These values drive us forward as we create a space where every child feels seen, valued, and supported.

I’ve had the privilege of engaging in thoughtful conversations with many of our families over the past week. Please know that I, along with our staff, remain committed to fostering an environment where all students and families feel safe, respected, and included. For further support, guidance, or resources, I encourage you to explore the information available on the district’s webpage. Additionally, this presentation highlights some of the resources available for our immigrant students staff members, and families

If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to share your thoughts, do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to listen and support you, just as we always have.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible community. Together, we will continue to ensure that Lipscomb Elementary remains a place of learning, growth, and pride for ALL.

Warmly,

Principal Carter

Morning Tardies Pushed Back to 8:05am / Attendance Reminder Morning Tardies Pushed Back to 8:05am / Attendance Reminder

To accommodate the cooler weather and longer car lines, the gates will remain open an additional 5 minutes until the weather allows for parents to walk their students to school. Gates will continue to close at 8:00am, and tardies will be recorded promptly at 8:05 AM,

This week, we will also send letters to transfer students whose transfers may be at risk for next year due to attendance and tardiness concerns. It is essential for students to be at school on time every day.

Our teachers dedicate significant effort to preparing lessons that advance each student's academic growth, and punctual attendance is a critical expectation for every student, every day. Thank you for partnering with us to prioritize your child’s education.

Breakfast in the Classroom Implementation – Policy Shift Breakfast in the Classroom Implementation – Policy Shift

The district is shifting to a Breakfast in the Classroom model for all elementary schools in alignment with policy CO (LOCAL). This change will require adjustments to our morning arrival routines to ensure a smooth start to the day.

Starting February 10, 2025, Breakfast in the Classroom will begin for Pre-K–2nd grade. Insulated bags with breakfasts will be delivered to classrooms before the opening bell, and teachers/aides will facilitate breakfast service, including roster documentation as required by TDA guidelines.

We will introduce a revised morning arrival plan to support this transition. More details about any adjustments we will make to ensure we adhere to policy will be shared in the coming week

Parent Conferences This Week Parent Conferences This Week

This week, we are hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences to ensure you have the opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher about their academic progress. Your child’s teacher should have already sent communication regarding their availability for conferences throughout the week.

For those unable to schedule a conference during the teacher’s designated hours, we will also have an Evening Conference Night this Thursday, from 4:00-7:00 PM, where all teachers will be on campus and available to meet.

It is so important that you take this opportunity to stay informed about your child’s academic progress as we work together to create the village that will raise each Lion to be a productive agent of the future.

If your child’s teacher has not communicated their conference times, or if their availability does not align with your schedule, please don’t hesitate to contact Principal Carter or Mrs. Yetts (myetts@dallasisd.org) directly so we can assist.

We look forward to seeing you this week!

After-School Tutoring for Grades 3-5 After-School Tutoring for Grades 3-5

As we approach assessment season, it is essential to provide additional support for students who may be falling behind. To address this, we are offering after-school tutoring specifically for students in grades 3-5:

  • Math tutoring on Tuesdays after school
  • Reading tutoring on Thursdays after school

During parent conferences this week, your child’s teacher may share if your student is expected to attend tutoring. However, we encourage you to check in with their teacher to confirm whether tutoring would be beneficial for your child.

This extra time can make a significant difference in helping our students master key concepts and prepare for success. Thank you for supporting your child’s academic growth!
