So Many Books, So Little Time

In honor of International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month, and all women everywhere, we’re sharing books by female authors that have shaped and changed our lives. From a President's mother to a self-help guide for the modern woman to compelling fiction with strong female protagonists, these titles celebrate the complexities of the female experience and get to the heart of what it means to be a woman.

Ocean Academy is truly blessed to have Dr. Corinth Morter-Lewis as a member of the faculty. She is a shining example of how much a woman can achieve.

Lifetime Belizean educator, author, poet and playwright, Dr. Corinth Morter-Lewis, described by Governor-General Sir Colville Young as “a true Renaissance woman”.

In Belize, the name Corinth Morter-Lewis is well-known and highly regarded since the poet and educator is considered by many as the epitome of patriotism in Belize. Dr. Morter-Lewis has had a long, impressive career in Education, and she has also greatly contributed to Belize’s literary landscape. Indeed, every morning Belizean children stand proudly, hands over hearts swelling with pride as they pledge their allegiance to the country by reciting Dr. Morter-Lewis’ poem “Tribute to the Belizean Flag”.
