Hawk News11/14/2025Hendrickson High School

Message from Principal Grebb:

I can practically smell the turkey, we’re so close! We’ve all worked so hard, and Thanksgiving Break is now officially just a week away. I want to thank everyone for their effort and dedication over these last few weeks. It’s been a lot, but the hard work will pay off.

Congratulations to the Hawk Band they finished 19th in the State in the 5A Marching Contest! They did a great job representing the district at the state contest.

A student recently asked me about grades and what shows up once you leave Hendrickson. I explained that the high school transcript only includes the semester grade. That means the 1st Nine Weeks and 2nd Nine Weeks grades are combined to make up 90% of the semester grade, with the remaining 10% coming from the midterm exam. So yes, you can slip up a little, but everything adds up at the end of the semester. That’s why it’s important to:

Hendrickson FFA Casino Night Hendrickson FFA Casino Night

You’re invited to our annual Hendrickson FFA Casino Night — an evening full of fun, food, and fundraising! This is one of our biggest events of the year, and all proceeds go toward scholarships, contest travel, leadership development, and other opportunities for our awesome students.

  • Date: November 15th, 2025
  • Time: 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Location: Pflugerville Lions Club

Pre-sale tickets are $60 each or 2 for $100, and that includes dinner, entry, and casino-style gaming chips to play all night. (Tickets will be $75 at the door.) Pre-sale ends on Nov. 7th! There will be a live auction, silent auction, and plenty of raffles, along with all the casino games.

If you’d like to grab your tickets at the pre-sale price, just reply to this email or let any of the ag teachers know — we’ll get you taken care of! We promise you’ll have a great time… just ask Mrs. Tydings, who joined the crew last year and had a blast!

You can also purchase tickets in person from any ag teacher, booster club board member, or online here. We have included our event flyer to this email, and follow our Hendrickson FFA Booster Club facebook for more updates on the prizes! They have some good ones this year.

We’d love to see you there for a night of laughs, good food, and friendly competition — all while supporting our FFA students!

Thanks for always cheering us on,
Hendrickson FFA & Booster Club

FAFSA is Open (Class of 2026) FAFSA is Open (Class of 2026)

Dear Senior Parents and Guardians,

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open for the Class of 2026! Completing the FAFSA is the most important step in securing financial aid for college, trade school, or career training programs.

This application determines eligibility for:

  • Federal grants (money you don’t repay)

  • Work-study opportunities

  • Low-interest federal student loans

  • Many state and college-specific scholarships

How the FAFSA Works This Year:

  1. The student begins the FAFSA with their own username and password.

  2. The student will then invite one parent/guardian (called a “contributor”) to log in with their own username and password.

  3. That parent completes their section, and then the FAFSA is submitted.

Important: Only one parent needs to fill out the FAFSA. Which parent is used depends on the family situation:

  • Married parents (to each other): Both parents’ information is included, but only one parent logs in as the contributor.

  • Divorced/separated parents: Use the parent the student lived with most in the past 12 months (or who provided more financial support).

    • If that parent is remarried, the stepparent’s info must be included too.

  • Single, never married parent: Only that parent’s info is needed.

Why act quickly?

  • Some financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Many colleges require the FAFSA on file before awarding scholarships.

  • Even if you don’t think you qualify, it’s still worth completing.

  • You’ll need your 2024 tax information to complete the form.
