CCA's March Character Trait: Faithfulness

The March character trait of the month at CCA is faithfulness. I asked three students what faithfulness means to them, and here are their responses. Bruce from 2nd grade said, “It means that if I have faith in someone they’ll have faith in me.” Gabriel from 3rd grade said, “Having faith in God.” Dawson from 4th grade said, “God is always with me.”

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” –Jacob

Chapel on March 28th Chapel on March 28th

On Friday, March 28th, chapel was opened with singing by the worship team. The freshmen class led pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible before Parker closed in prayer. Mr. Patterson brought a chapel message about Faithfulness to CCA students and staff. The Bible passages he referenced were Psalms 23, Proverbs 12:22, and 2 Corinthians 8:9. He talked about how faithfulness is the opposite of lying and exclaimed that God will take care of the faithful and will always be there for us.

Mr. Patterson asked 5 students to act out being a lighthouse. He told us that a lighthouse is a figure of faithfulness as it helps guide boats to shore safely. Mr. Patterson asked 5 students to act out being a lighthouse, photo below.

Jesus will always be faithful to us. He was on earth 33 years and exemplified being faithful by saying and doing what the father told Him to. Jesus did the will of His father even when He didn’t want to do it (Garden of Gethsemane) and it hurt Him to die on the cross, but He did it for us. He was faithful and He has called us to be faithful.

Matthew 28:19-20 is the Great Commission, which says we are to be disciples; however, being the hands and feet of Jesus doesn’t just mean to provide funding, sponsoring poor countries, rescuing people in times of need, and ministering to the physical needs of others. It means to tell others about Christ and boldly proclaim the gospel. –Carissa

Survey Says:

Spring is here, that means BBQ season is upon us. Kynlee surveyed CCA students and teachers this week to see if they would rather eat grilled hamburgers or hotdogs. Even though hotdogs received 44 votes, hamburgers won with 62 votes. Did you know hamburgers originated from Hamburg, Germany? According to the nypost, burgers have more protein, iron and other essential nutrients, but also have more saturated fat and calories than hotdogs.

Class Spotlight: World History

Kynlee observed the freshman and sophomore World History class on March 24th. Mr. Morris gave back their tests. It was a nice day, so students gathered their things and went outside to read chapter 16. Chapter 16 was about “Attempts of Liberty.” Section one talked about “American Struggle to Preserve Liberty.” “Colonial Liberties,” “British Restrictions,” “American Independence,” and “Republic.” “Colonial Liberties” included information about the Pilgrims and the Mayflower Compact. “British Restrictions” mentioned George III, their monarch. “American Independence” talked about the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Paris. It also talked about General George Washington. “Republic” was about federalism, popular sovereignty, and the Bill of Rights. After reading chapter 16, students returned to the classroom and began working on section review questions.
