January 2026 Newsletter
INSTRUCTIONAL SCHOOL DAY: 7:45 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Welcome to January Lieck Families!
Dear Lieck Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you had a joyful and restful winter break with your families. As we bid farewell to 2025 and step into a new year, I want to extend my warmest wishes to each of you for a Happy New Year filled with health, happiness, and prosperity!
We were excited to welcome our students back to school this week recharged and ready for the remainder of the academic year. We hope the break provided an opportunity for relaxation and quality time with loved ones.
The start of a new year is a time for reflection and renewal, and we are eager to continue our journey of learning and growth together. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been preparing exciting and engaging lessons, and we look forward to building on the achievements of the past semester.
As we return to school, please take note of any updates or important information that may be shared by your child's teacher or the school administration. Communication is key, and we want to ensure that the transition back to school is smooth for both students and parents.
Remember that our school doors are always open, and we encourage open communication between home and school. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
Thank you for your continued support, and let's make 2026 a year of growth and success for our students. Here's to a fantastic second half of the school year!
Best regards,
Jessica Garza
Principal

School Advisory Team (SAT)
Dear Lieck Elementary Families,
We invite you to partner with us in shaping the future of our school by serving on our School Advisory Team (SAT).
What is the School Advisory Team?
Every campus in Northside ISD has a School Advisory Team. The SAT’s primary role is to improve student learning. Members work together to review and provide input on important areas such as the Campus Improvement Plan, campus budget, professional learning plan, and other priorities identified by the principal and team members.
Who serves on the SAT?
The SAT is a collaboration of staff, parents, community members, and business representatives. Each campus must attempt to include:
-
At least four staff members
-
At least four parents
-
At least one community member
-
At least one business representative
We are currently recruiting parents to join our team. Your perspective and voice are essential to ensure that our work reflects the needs of our students and families.
When does the SAT meet?
The SAT meets 3–4 times per year at times convenient for participants. This year’s scheduled meetings are:
-
September 30
-
January 13
-
May 19
Agendas are prepared by the principal and shared in advance. Members also have the opportunity to bring forward additional items for discussion.
How to Get Involved:
If you are interested in serving as a parent member of the School Advisory Team, please contact Ms. Garza @ Jess.Garza@nisd.net.
Your participation makes a difference! Together, we can ensure that Lieck Elementary continues to provide the best opportunities for our students.
With appreciation,
Jessica Garza

SB 12 Parent Consent Form
Dear Parent:
The 89th Texas Legislative Session passed Senate Bill 12, which requires all Texas public schools to obtain annual parental consent for routine physical and mental health services.
On September 10th, the district sent out an email to the parent listed as "guardian one" in eSchool. That parent received an email for each child that attends a northside school. Each email will contain a unique link for that specific student. To comply with this new law, we need you to indicate your consent preference in the unique link for your child. If you have other children enrolled in the district, you will receive a separate email for each of them. The subject line of the email is titled New parental consent requirements.
This consent form describes the routine physical and mental health services provided at the school. In the future, this consent process will be part of our annual data verification.
Thank you for your help as we implement this new requirement.
Please complete the consent form as soon as possible so that we have the most current information on file.
I'm also including a link to the district website for more information nisd.net/district/whole-child/parental-consent-forms

Jessica Garza

Udpate Your Child's Immunizations
Texas law requires all public school children to have current immunizations to attend class. Northside ISD encourages parents to have their children immunized before the first day of school.
For more information please visit https://www.nisd.net/schools/health/vaccinations
A Word from the Nurse
The school nurse does not diagnose illnesses but takes notes of the symptoms and notifies the parent/guardian of the observations. If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the student will be assessed and given first aid, and the parent/guardian will be notified if the severity of the injury or illness warrants such action.
Children should be kept at home when ill and are expected to be free of fever (temperature less than 100.0° F) and free of communicable diseases in order to attend school. In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, students are required to be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. The Texas Department of State Health Services defines fever as a temperature of 100.0°F or greater. This is important for the health of the child and for the health of all children at the school.
