A Message From Mrs. Kristie Autrey
We know how busy life can get, but spending a little time each day on reading and homework can make a big difference in your child’s learning! Helping your child take responsibility for completing assignments sets them up for success and builds good habits for the future.
Here are three simple tips to make it easier:
Encourage Daily Reading and Practice
Regular reading, math exercises, or other practice in core subjects strengthens understanding and builds confidence. Even 15–20 minutes a day makes a difference.-
Engage in Conversations About Learning
Ask your child about what they are learning, encourage them to explain it in their own words, and celebrate their progress. This helps reinforce concepts and boosts retention. -
Support Homework and Study Routines
Establish a consistent time and quiet space for learning at home. Check in on assignments and provide guidance when needed, while encouraging independence.
Thank you for supporting your child and helping them shine in school!
Warmly,
Mrs. Autrey

NC Check-Ins Assessment Information
Families, we will be giving our first NC Check-In of the school year. This assessment measures your child’s understanding of the North Carolina standards in reading, math, and science (5th grade only). These assessments provide us with valuable information about teaching and learning.
To help your child be successful, here are three tips:
-
Rest Well: Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep before the assessment days.
-
Healthy Start: Provide a balanced breakfast so they have energy and focus.
-
Encouragement: Remind your child to do their best, stay calm, and take their time.
Thank you for your support in preparing your child!
