Noble Family Newsletter
December 8, 2025
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Last week, the Noble Explorers slid into the coolest place in town - the Cleveland Heights Ice Rink! The Explorers got to put on skates and learn the basics of ice skating - many for the first time! We thank the many parent and grandparents who were able to join them! Next Friday, they will travel to the Natural History Museum to learn about owls!
Mini Goals
Noble Families,
As we head into the last two weeks of school before Winter Break, you might be feeling a bit of the “end-of-year slump.” One way to close out the year strong is to set two small, simple goals for the weeks ahead, one that helps support a positive home learning environment and one that supports your child’s learning at home.
Here are a few ideas you might try:
Have your child pack their backpack and lay out clothes for the next school day each night.
-
Set a 10–15 minute reading or homework time and stick to it consistently.
-
Ask one question about school each day, like “What was your favorite part of math today?”
-
Praise effort or completion, such as finishing homework or practicing spelling words.
-
Limit distractions during study time by keeping devices away or turning off the TV.
Even small, consistent actions can make a big difference in keeping children engaged, focused, and motivated during these final instructional weeks. Thank you for partnering with us to end 2025 on a strong note!
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.
Principal
From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Noble Families,
We’ve officially entered the “messy middle” of the school year—the stretch where routines can feel challenging, energy dips, and the excitement of the new school year feels farther away. This part of the year is real and sometimes tough, but it’s also when our teamwork and consistency matter most. Each day, students rely on clear routines, predictable expectations, and steady support from all of us at school.
To keep everyone connected and supported, here are a few ways families can stay engaged and involved:
- Maintain Consistent Attendance: Attendance often drops around the holidays, but learning doesn’t stop. Help set your student up for success by ensuring they are in school every day until Winter Break.
-
Stay connected with Noble Teachers: if your child is referred for behavioral support, teachers and admin will reach out the same day to keep families in the loop.
-
Understand what testing season means: We have MAP exams in December, and Acadience for K-3 and Interim Exams (Practice Ohio State Tests) for Grades 3-5 in January. It's important for you to know what these tests are about and how you can support at home!
Thank you for partnering with us to provide a consistent, supportive, and caring environment for our students. Together, we can finish the year strong.
Ms. Barrett
Assistant Principal

Cleveland Heights MLK Ceremony & Contest
The City of Cleveland Heights is excited to announce the prompt for its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, now in its 30th year.
In 2026, we're joining with The King Center, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that the King legacy not only remains relevant and viable but is effectively leveraged for positive social impact.
The King Center's 2026 theme is: Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way. According to the nonprofit, "This theme is more than a banner; it’s a blueprint for action...anchor[ing] our commitment to building the Beloved Community: a world where injustice ends, violence is replaced by compassion, and love becomes the prevailing force."
These are both large and complex ideas, and we encourage teachers and parents/guardians of our younger students to focus on the power of choosing kindness over meanness.
Students are invited to explore these ideas in essay form, in a poem, or visually in a poster.
We will review all submissions in preparation for the Tuesday, January 13, ceremony at the Cleveland Heights Community Center, 6 pm. All students, their families, and friends are invited to attend the event. A selection of students will be invited to share their work on stage and will be notified in advance if selected.
Please complete the form linked here and upload your submission.
If you'd prefer to submit a physical copy, please contact Jonathan Wilhelm at jwilhelm@clevelandheights.gov or (216) 291-3669.
Deadline for all submissions: December 31, 2025

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We value two-way communication and want you to feel fully informed and comfortable with all of our safety practices.
