Principal Weekly Update to Families
For the Week of October 6th - October 10th
Brief Message From the Principal
Dear Jayhawk Elementary Families,
Next week at JES, we are excited to launch our daily intervention time designed to meet the needs of every student. Grades 1–2 will have their intervention block from 8:50–9:20 AM, and grades 3–6 from 1:00–1:30 PM. During this time, teachers will provide focused instruction in small groups based on each student’s current reading skills.
These sessions are not just for students who need extra help — they benefit all students. Some students will receive additional practice to strengthen their foundation, while others will be challenged with advanced reading skills. This approach ensures that every child gets what they need to grow as a reader. We encourage families to continue supporting their child at home by reading together daily and celebrating the progress they make along the way.
This past week, JES had a fantastic time celebrating our Kind Student Spirit Week alongside all of the exciting Homecoming activities. Our students and staff enjoyed dressing up, participating in special events, and most importantly, focusing on the power of kindness. These celebrations remind us of how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive and close-knit community.
In a small town like ours, events like Homecoming do more than bring school spirit—they bring our entire community together. We are grateful for the enthusiasm and support from our families and neighbors, and we look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate our Jayhawk pride.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to welcoming families to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 14th and Thursday, October 16th from 4:00–8:00 PM each evening. These conferences are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, review progress, and celebrate successes. We can’t wait to see everyone there!
