D115 Staff Lunch Information

Hello, Lake Forest High School Staff,

We are excited about the new school year as many great improvements are being made to food service program!

Jay Herr is the new Chef Manager and we are so excited to have him on board. Jay has been in the food industry for the past 40 years. Jay started his career as Executive Chef for a country club and then moved into management with a focus on all areas including culinary, staffing, and menu development. Prior to coming to Quest, Jay worked for Sodexo in corporate dining supporting Discover Financial and all their locations in multiple states. While working as a part time professor at College of Lake County, Jay was responsible for Hospitality and Culinary Management program. This program helped students build cooking, menu development and preparation skills. Jay’s culinary background allows him to be hands on, innovative with catering and menu planning that are tailored to needs of students and staff.

We have received great feedback on how we can enhance our service to staff. Here are the enhancements Jay is going to make:

• “Staff only” cashier line (station to the left) so staff does not have to wait in line and does not have to feel bad about cutting students.
• Coffee available in the Wedge from 7 am – 3 pm as sometimes you need a cup in the afternoon to keep you going.
• Menus can be found at www.fdmealplanner.com > Search Lake Forest High School
• Thursday “Staff Meals” will continue and we will have action stations once a month
• Variety of vegetarian and gluten friendly options
• Soup daily (starting in September)
• Enhanced salad bar with variety of proteins, vegetables and grains
• Attached are instructions on how you can add money to your account via MySchoolBucks (page 6) as well as other important information.
• We also accept checks made out to Lake Forest High School or cash to add money to your account.
