Each month students are learning about a virtue, and this month we're focusing on HARD WORK. Students hear the student-friendly definition (as seen above) each morning during announcements. Teachers and guidance counselors discuss the virtue during morning community meetings and throughout our days. I want to encourage parents to discuss the virtue of the month with your child at home as well. Here are a couple of talking points to discuss with your child at home this month:

• Can you think of a time that you had to work hard to accomplish a goal? How did it make you feel when you accomplished that goal?
• What are some things we need to work hard on at school? At home?
• Can you think of someone in our family who has had to use hard work to accomplish a goal?

Teaching our students about virtues of character has been fun and rewarding! We look forward to continuing investing in your child's character throughout the year!-Mrs. Fowler

Each morning students recite our Forest Hills Commitment to start their day off on a positive note. Ask your child if he/she can you tell you the Forest Hills Commitment & 3 B's!

If you would like to purchase one of our old yearbooks, we are selling them for $5! Please send cash or check with your child in a labeled envelope of the year that you would like purchase! We have the following years available:

Our lost and found is full. All coats that have not been claimed will be donated. Please label all of your child's coats/jackets.

Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our students and staff safe. Please remember that if your child has been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case, is exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19, or has tested positive for Covid-19, you should contact our School Nurse, Sherry McCutcheon, at (256) 768-2519. At this time, all K-12 Florence City Schools are "mask preferred."

iReady Parent Reports will be sent during the week of January 10-14. Please look over your child's report and contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.

Please support our school and your child's education by helping your child sell coupon books! We encourage you to utilize phone call/email/Facetime instead of door to door sells due to Covid. Orders and unsold books are due back by January 21st. Thank you for your support!

Our Student Council and Peer Helpers will be leading a school-wide service learning project January 31-February 10. During this time, we will be collecting new blankets to donate to local nursing homes, assisted living homes, and homeless shelters. Students will also be writing letters of encouragement to send with the blankets. More details to come!
