Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Please be reminded that DCPS will not have school on Monday, in recognition of Memorial Day. Thank you for continuing to prioritize attendance. We hope to see all of our students present on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Have a phenomenal long weekend!

Enrollment

As of this morning, our enrollment was at 90%. The DCPS end of school year benchmark is 100%. As we have begun making wait list offers to ensure full and timely enrollment, please be mindful that reenrolling now will significantly support maintaining small class sizes. More information is shared in the newsletter.

DC Soccer Club is thrilled to announce our upcoming Summer Soccer Camp program tailored specifically for young athletes. Our camp aims to provide a fun and enriching experience for students during their break, while also offering valuable skill development in the sport of soccer.

Our summer camps will feature expert coaching from our experienced staff, who are dedicated to creating a positive and supportive environment for all participants. Whether your students are beginners looking to learn the basics or experienced players seeking to refine their skills, our program offers something for everyone.

We believe that participation in sports can have a profound impact on a student's overall development, teaching important life lessons such as discipline, resilience, and leadership. Our goal is to instill these values in our campers while igniting their passion for the beautiful game of soccer.

Attached, you will find a flyer detailing our Summer Soccer Camp program, including registration information and pricing. We kindly ask that you share this information with your students and their families, as we believe this opportunity will greatly benefit members of the Hyde-Addison Elementary School community.

Nutrislice's digital menu technology will provide DCPS with an enhanced user experience providing the ability to easily navigate menus, filter for dietary and allergen restrictions, change preferred language settings, and much more. Here is the site!

Some notable features include

· Printable menus with the ability to translate in multiple languages.

· The ability to filter menus based on allergens and dietary needs.

Feel free to dress up for Spirit Week, which will be June 3-7, 2024.

Field Day for Grades K-5 will be Monday, June 10 and PreK will have Field Day on June 6.

Please note that there is no school on Tuesday, June 4 (per the DCPS calendar) but we are hopeful families will email photos of you all twinning to hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to be featured on a bulletin board!

ANY FAMILY WHO DOES NOT WANT THEIR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN SPLASH DAY CAN OPT OUT BY EMAILING HYDE.ADDISON@K12.DC.GOV PRIOR TO THURSDAY JUNE 13.

We would like all families to share some information with our team in advance so that we can get to know their strengths and learning needs. This information will be given to your child's classroom teacher in advance of the first day of school so that they can support their transition. Fill out this short form!

Rainbow Children's Festival

Saturday, June 1st

Rainbow Fest is for ALL kids to signal that their community supports them being themselves, regardless of their gender or sexuality. Again this year, our theme will be "Be-YOU-tiful!" and we will be encouraging kids to "Be Kind and Be-YOU-tiful!"

DCPS is so excited to offer Grades 5-8 DCPS students a host of summer enrichment opportunities. Families can register their children here. Programs run 3-5 weeks. POC: 6-12summerlearning@k12.dc.gov

Please complete SY24-25 enrollment by following two steps:

1. Complete the online DCPS enrollment packet at Enrolldcps.dc.gov (ask the main office if you need a paper copy)

2. Submit Valid Proof of DC Residency. Examples of residency documents are listed below. You can attach and and submit these documents at the end of the online Enrollment Packet (linked above).

To enroll your child in Champions aftercare for SY24-25:

1. Create a parent portal [STEP 1]

   a. Your parent portal will give you access to billing, scheduling and many more things that will assist you.

2. Fill out the attached Enrollment Packets [STEP 2]

1. Ensure to have your REQUESTED SCHEDULE completed.

2. Ensure you fill out all 3 OSSE forms.

3. Ensure you fill out a separate form for each of your students.

4. Ensure there is contact information for primary and secondary payer (email and number).

5. Ensure you are putting your child/children grade on the enrollment form.

6. When finished please email a copy to CH002523@DISCOVERCHAMPIONS.COM.

SummerFest has been confirmed for Friday, May 31 from 4:30-7:30! This is a free event for our community to come out, have some fun and celebrate the end of a great school year and the start of summer. We are seeking sponsors to help cover the cost of activity stations at SummerFest so if you want to help make the event a success please reach out to Skyler F. on Konstella or email pta.hydeaddison@gmail.com. Each May the PTA holds elections for Exec Board members for the following school year. We are especially seeking volunteers for Treasurer, Secretary, and VP(s) of Fundraising for the 2024-2025 school year but encourage anyone interested in stepping up and joining our dynamic group of volunteers to reach out! A full list of offices and their descriptions can be found in the current bylaws here. Please email pta.hydeaddison@gmail.com by Sunday, May 19 if you'd like to nominate yourself or another parent/guardian for any of these roles! Elections will run online for about a week beginning on or around May 20.

Please be reminded to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to inform the team of your child's absence, in order for it to be excused. If your child has a communicable illness, like strep throat, RSV, pink eye, or lice, please also include that information.

School ends at 3:25pm and students are late being picked up after 3:30pm. Please be reminded that early dismissal ends at 2:50pm and we must clear the field for aftercare students to use.
