Reminders & Updates
5-Week Progress Reports
Missing Assignment Parent Notifications
Parents receive weekly emails when students have M/Missing assignments in Empower, which means it is important to leave it blank if it's not officially missing or worthy of parent notification. The way we have it set up is that any evidence marked M/Missing gets summarized in an email that goes out on Friday. The email only includes M/Missing evidence for the past week, and it is not cumulative. The evidence stays Missing in the gradebook, but the students/parents do not get continually emailed about it (just one time, the first week it was marked Missing).
WIN Time Priority Interruptions
Please see Stephanie's email for more detailed information.
Monday, Sept. 8: Students who did not finish on Friday will be pulled from WIN groups to complete the IXL Diagnostic Screener.
Tuesday, Sept. 9: Select students in Primetime with Killingsworth, Morrison, and Phillips will complete a required Art Integration survey (in lieu of doing these whole school).
Thursday, Sept. 11: Students may be pulled to finish the ELA IXL Diagnostic.
Monday, Sept. 15 – Thursday, Sept. 18: The uPar assessment will be administered during WIN to all students with IEPs or 504 plans.
Monday (Sept. 15): 6th Grade
Tuesday (Sept. 16): 7th Grade
Thursday (Sept. 18): Makeup Testing
The uPar screens for read aloud needs and is not timed. While some students will finish during WIN, others may require more than 30 minutes to complete. Those students will remain until completion of this assessment and then report to their third-period class.
SOS Team Referral
The Support Our Students (SOS) Team exists to provide early, coordinated intervention for students showing patterns of chronic behavior, attendance, and/or wellness concerns. By working collaboratively across roles, we ensure every student receives timely support that removes barriers to learning, promotes well-being, and fosters school success.
The team of admin, counselors, social worker, nurse, and CSSO will monitor and intervene based on referral and attendance data, but teacher teams may also recommend students using the SOS Team Referral.
Sunshine Fund
We know many of you get your first paycheck this week. Woohoo! Just pay if you can, how much you can, when you can.
Instructional Tip of the Week
CLEAR IS KIND! The following is both a classroom management and communication strategy that can benefit teaching and learning on a daily basis. THE PACE is a reminder of what we should EXPLICITY communicate to students regarding an activity or assignment. When students have clear expectations, it should help with behavior and performance. Provide these details and pair with visuals, such as a timer, when you can.
