Texas School Safety Teen Ambassadors Needed
Are you passionate about empowering your peers to live healthy, drug-free lives?
The Texas School Safety Teen Ambassadors serve as the state’s youth voice for engaging young people in school safety initiatives. They are dedicated to educating their peers about the dangers of youth drug use, positive teen mental health, and working with school administrators to create a safe and healthy campus environment.
Students entering grades 9-12 for the 2025-26 school year are encouraged to apply. Applications are due Friday, May 30, 2025. View the flyer for more information and/or to register.
Last year, a Colorado River Collegiate Academy student was one of only nine students selected to represent the entire state!

Attendance Matters
March "Make Everyday Count" Attendance Contest Winners
During the month of March, Bastrop ISD campuses were challenged to compete against themselves to beat their own campus daily attendance average from March of 2024. Mina Elementary, Cedar Creek Intermediate and Bastrop High School took the banners this month! For our April contest, campuses will continue to try to beat their April 2024 rates and the campuses with the biggest increase from their April 2024 to April 2025 attendance rates will be crowned our April winners.
We would also like to congratulate ALL of our campuses in the district this month for improving their daily attendance averages from last March. 10 of our campuses showed a more than 1% increase and Cedar Creek Middle and Cedar Creek Intermediate showed more than 2%.
Remember, student attendance is crucial for academic success as it ensures consistent learning and engagement with the material. Regular attendance helps students stay on track with assignments, lectures, and class discussions, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject. Additionally, it promotes accountability and discipline, both of which are essential skills for future success.

Measles Information
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has reported outbreaks of measles in several areas of Texas. As a precaution, we are sharing this information with you due to the highly contagious nature of this disease. For more information on measles, please visit the DSHS website.
If a student in your child's school develops measles, all students who are not in compliance with the MMR requirements, even if they have a medical or religious exemption, are recommended to receive a dose of the MMR vaccine. If they receive it within 72 hours after their initial exposure to the person with measles, they may remain in school. Otherwise, they must be excluded from school through 21 days after their most recent exposure, per Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Rule 97.7.
