Claggett September Newsletter

Dear Claggett Families
It is hard to believe it is September already. We have had a busy start to our school year. We kicked off the school year with our Meet the Team Nights. These nights provided parents an opportunity to meet their child's middle school team and learn about the team expectations. We are proud of the Middle School model and believe it is what is best for our Middle School students. If at anytime you have a question, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's team. Claggett Science Olympiad
Hello Claggett Families!
We will be hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 16th, at 6:00 pm in the Claggett Middle School Cafeteria. At this meeting, we will discuss what exactly Science Olympiad is, what events are being offered this year, when are the important dates for Invitationals, Regionals, and State competitions, as well as how this whole program works! We will also talk about student and team expectations and goals for the season.
Please plan to join us to hear more about the team, what your student has to look forward to this year, and other opportunities with the program. Please feel free to bring any questions to the meeting, and we will do our best to get them answered.
We look forward to meeting with you and your student!
Sincerely,
Claggett Science Olympiad Coaches

Safe School Helpline
The Medina City School District wants to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. In 2024, the Medina County Community Needs Assessment indicated that 14.3% of Medina County youth had seriously considered suicide in the past year, and 5.7% admitted attempting suicide in the past year.*
These rates are concerning to all of us, and we, as a school community, want to be certain that our community has the resources available to support our students. The District has provided the Safe School Helpline for several years as a resource for parents and students. This hotline allows parents, students, or anyone in the community to report a concern via telephone or through the internet. This helpline can be accessed on our website (www.medinabees.org) on the main page, or by calling 1‐800‐4‐1‐VOICE ext. 359 (1‐800‐418‐6423 ext. 359). A free Mobile App is also available for our hotline on Google Play and the App Store.
We encourage all of you to utilize this service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whenever you have a concern about a student, staff, or District safety. If something is an emergency, please contact the police or 911 immediately. It is especially important that this Helpline be utilized for situations in which you have concerns about student safety. Although it may seem easier or more convenient to email staff or leave a message after hours, on weekends, or during the school day, leaving a message is not an effective way to communicate an emergency, as email and voicemail may not be monitored outside of regular school hours or on weekends.
The District put the Safe Schools Helpline in place to maintain a safe and positive school environment. It should be utilized to report any wrongdoing, illegal activity, or student crisis situations. Reports can be made anonymously. There is also access to a live counselor, and staff on the Safe Schools Helpline will ensure that your call is routed to the appropriate place should the issue require immediate attention. All calls are forwarded to the schools and other appropriate officials. You also have the option to call back in three days to receive an update on your call.
We encourage everyone to utilize this service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whenever you have a concern about a student, staff, or District safety. If you have any questions about the Helpline, please contact me anytime at 330‐636‐3092 or via email at quallick@medinabees.org.
School Safety Parent Night

MHS Football Game Expectations
We are excited to welcome our students, families, and community back to the stadium as the Medina Bees host their second home game tonight.
To help make each game a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we are sharing a reminder about the stadium procedures introduced last year. Please review these expectations with your student before attending a game.
Student supervision and seating
Students in grades K–5 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult family member or guardian at all times. Students in these grades who arrive without an adult will not be admitted.
Students in grades 6–8 must remain with an adult family member or guardian or sit in the designated middle school Hive student section.
Students in grades 9–12 must sit with an adult or guardian or in the designated high school Swarm student section.
Students may not roam the stadium during the game.
Protecting our stadium
Students may not bring or use items that could damage the track, field, or stadium. Violations may result in removal from the stadium, school disciplinary action, restitution for damages, and, when appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
Field access
For safety reasons, students and spectators are not permitted on the field before or after the game. Families should plan to meet student-athletes outside the stadium gates following the game.
Bag policy
Bookbags, backpacks, and other large bags are not permitted in the stadium. This policy will be enforced at all entrances. Anyone arriving with a prohibited bag will need to return it to their vehicle or discard it before entering. Medina City Schools is not responsible for items left near the gates or ticket booths.
Stadium seating and visibility
To keep walkways clear and ensure everyone can see the game, spectators may not stand along the fence in front of the stands.
Thank you for reviewing these expectations with your student and for helping us create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable game-day environment. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to cheering on the Battling Bees throughout the 2026 football season!
