Collaboration Connection

Introduction

The Global Collaboration is a virtual exchange program running for four weeks, partnering Grade 8 students at Tsai Hsing School and Grade 8 students at the Bainbridge-Guilford Jr-Sr High School, with the core purpose of fostering cultural understanding, authentic communication, and global citizenship. Our Global Collaboration begins with a Meet & Greet activity followed by a Community Exploration activity focused on comparing and contrasting their local areas. The collaboration concludes with a Watch Party & Reflection where students view a video montage, take notes on similarities and interests, and participate in a final group discussion about future connections.

Session 4 Update

New York Update:

In our last session, we learned a bit about Lunar New Year from our Taiwanese friends. Our students then worked on writing questions to ask the kids in Taiwan about their traditions.

Taiwan Update:

We have enjoyed watching the Introduction to Bainbridge and Student Introduction videos from our partners in New York! We look forward to watching more videos in the coming weeks!

New York Update:

Session 2 Update

Taiwan Update:

We have finished recording our Student Introduction videos and are working on compiling them into one video to share with the students in New York. We have completed the first two weeks of our collaboration material and will be ready to move onto the week 3 material after Thanksgiving break.

New York Update:

We completed and shared our Introduction to New York video and our Student Introductions Compilation Video. We’re very excited to see the videos that the students from Taiwan have prepared! We finished week one and two of the collaboration material, we’ll be meeting again the first day after Thanksgiving break, which would be next Monday. We will then move on to week 3’s materials!

Session 1 Update

Taiwan Update:

What a fantastic start to our collaboration with New York students! Students in Taiwan jumped right into their "About Me" videos, showing great progress by planning and even recording some great content! They will use the next class to polish their work, finish recording, make final edits, and then share their amazing videos on the class Padlet. When our Padlet is complete, we will share the link with you all in New York!

New York Update:

We had our first meeting. Makenna presented what will be included for our first slide/Padlet entry. The students wrote up what they are going to say on their videos and practiced. At our next meeting. The videos will be recorded. Makenna will then edit and load everything into the Padlet. We are very excited to see what the Taiwan students have been working on.
