School Principal's Message

Dear Reutter School Families/Guardians,

This week, we took the opportunity to honor our faculty for Teacher Appreciation Week and our school nurse, Mrs. Cline, for Nurse’s Day. Through a collaborative effort between the building administration, PTO, support staff, and students, our educators were recognized with a variety of tributes. A highlight of the week was the distribution of personalized "thank you" cards, which students wrote during their lunch periods last week. Our faculty and staff were delighted to receive these thoughtful messages from their students.

State Testing Reminders:

  • NJSLA-Science: Fifth-grade students will participate in the NJSLA-Science assessment next Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 15 during the morning sessions. Fifth-grade schedules will be slightly adjusted during this window to accommodate the testing environment.

  • NJSLA Adaptive Assessments: All fifth and sixth-grade students will be administered the Math, Reading, and Writing assessments the following week, May 18–22.

This past Wednesday marked the mid-way point for Trimester 3. Parents and guardians are encouraged to log into the Realtime Parent Portal to review your child’s academic progress and work habits as we move into the final weeks of the school year.

Our school community enjoyed a series of spirit days this week, featuring Flyers and Sixers sports days and concluding Friday with our Character Trait Color Day. We have an active calendar approaching for the end of May:

  • May 11: Color Run permission slips will be distributed to students (please see the weekly newsletter for homeroom color assignments).

  • Week of May 26: PTO Annual Scholastic "Buy One, Get One Free" Book Fair.

  • May 26: Fire Science Demonstration Assembly hosted by the Franklin Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

  • May 28: Annual Art Show (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM).

  • May 29: Sixth Grade Service Learning Luncheon.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Mr. Theodore Peters

Principal

Attention Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians - Immunization Reminder

Dear Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians:

As your child turns 11 and prepares for their upcoming sixth grade year, I would like to remind you about the sixth grade immunization requirements. New Jersey law (N.J.A.C. 8:57-4.2) requires that all students entering sixth grade and students who have turned 11 years old must receive two immunizations:

Tdap

Meningococcal

If your child has already received these immunizations, please forward proof of vaccinations to Mrs. Heather Cline, School Nurse, before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Unfortunately, your child will be excluded from the start of the upcoming 2026-2027 school year if their immunization status is not in compliance with the requirements.

If your child does not have health insurance, please contact the Gloucester County Health Department to schedule an appointment to receive these immunizations free of charge at 856-218-4151.

Additionally, please contact me at 856-694-0223 x3103 or hcline@franklintwpschools.org, if you need any assistance or have any questions pertaining to this state requirement.

Thank you for helping to keep our kids safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Heather Cline, RN

School Nurse

Fifth Grade Extracurricular Activity Applications

Dear Fifth Grade Parents and Guardians,

As we look forward to the 2026-2027 school year, we are excited to begin the application process for our sixth grade extracurricular activities. On Friday, May 8, all eligible students will receive a letter from their homeroom teachers detailing the various activities available to them next year.

If your child is interested in participating, they must submit a completed application, including written responses to four questions regarding their interest and character, to Mr. Peters or Mrs. Gereaghty in the Main Office. The deadline for all applications is the end of the school day on Thursday, May 21.

Please note the following selection processes:

  • Student Council Representatives: Members will be selected via a student vote held within each of our current fifth-grade homerooms.

  • Other Extracurricular Activities: Selection will be based on the student’s indicated interest in their application and faculty recommendations.

Eligibility Requirements: To participate in our extracurricular programs, students must maintain the following standards:

  • Positive Conduct: Demonstrate a positive attitude toward all teachers and peers; follow all school rules daily with no administrative discipline beyond a warning.

  • Academic Effort: Maintain a rating of “Meeting” or “Progressing Toward the Standard” in all work habits.

  • Learning Consistency: Maintain a rating of at least “Progressing Toward the Standard” for academic standards.

  • Attendance: Maintain satisfactory attendance, consisting of fewer than 12 unexcused absences, fewer than 18 total absences, and fewer than 12 instances of being late to school.

We encourage all interested students to take advantage of these leadership and enrichment opportunities. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact the Main Office.

Fifth Grade Math

Our fifth-grade students are currently exploring the properties of quadrilaterals within their geometry unit in math class. Students are learning to classify two-dimensional figures based on side length, angle measurements, and parallelism, helping them understand how different shapes, such as parallelograms, rhombuses, and rectangles, relate to one another.
