As we wrap up another great week at Evergreen Middle School, it has been exciting to see so many of our students getting involved in the many activities happening around our school. The energy and participation have been wonderful to see.

One of my favorite parts is watching students step outside of their comfort zones. Seeing a student who may have never tried a sport before take the chance to participate and gain confidence. I also had the opportunity to visit our music classrooms this week and see students at all different stages- from those just beginning to learn an instrument to those who are becoming more confident and skilled musicians.

There is a lot of learning happening in our classrooms every day, and being involved in activities outside the classroom adds another important part to the middle school experience. These opportunities help students build confidence, find their interests, develop friendships, and discover new things about themselves. We are proud of the many ways our Grizzlies are getting involved.

Have a great weekend, Grizzlies!

It's been a busy week in sports here at Evergreen! Here are some updates from the Cross Country, Softball, & Cheerleading Club Coaches:

Cheerleading Club: This fall, the Evergreen community has embraced our newest club, Cheerleading! EMS cheerleaders have supported our JV and Varsity football teams by cheering at home games throughout the season. When we were invited to continue our support at Future Bears Night on 9/29 we jumped at the opportunity (no pun intended)! Cheerleaders led the crowd as we cheered and stunted under the lights at the Central Valley High School stadium. Interested in getting involved as an EMS Cheer Club cheerleader? Keep an eye out for our winter season sign up, after winter break.

Cross Country: We are over half way done with the 2026 EMS Cross Country Season and it has been awesome! We’ve seen lots of PRs, sportsmanship, and hard work and are looking forward to our last couple of races. Come cheer us on at Valley Mission Park on 10/8 and at The Course Spokane Valley for All League on 10/15. We are so proud of all 74 runners and look forward to everyone finishing strong!

-Coaches Snook, Ottersen, Trent, Rundle, and Watson

Softball: Our 8th grade Varsity softball team is doing great! We have improved our hitting so much and it is amazing to see the growth in our team. We have a few more games so come cheer us on!! Kenley had an amazing hit with her grand slam helping us win our game against Greenacres!!
