September Weekly update ~ September 26, 2025
A note from Mr. Lee
Cougar Families,
As we move further into the school year, we want to take a moment to remind everyone about our dismissal procedures. To help us maintain a safe and orderly end of the day, please note that after 2:00 p.m., we are unable to call students down from their classrooms for an early dismissal unless arrangements were made in the morning. When we have notice ahead of time, we can provide your student with a pass so that they are ready and waiting when you arrive.
The time between 2:00 p.m. and dismissal is one of the busiest times of our entire day. Buses are arriving, traffic in the lot begins to increase, and our office staff is working to make sure all students are accounted for and prepared to leave safely. When several families arrive unexpectedly during this time, it creates a chaotic situation in the office and classrooms, which makes it harder to ensure that the dismissal process runs smoothly. Most importantly, it becomes more difficult to keep the safety and security of the building intact with so much movement happening at once.
We absolutely understand that occasional emergencies do arise. In those rare cases, we ask that you please give the office a quick phone call to provide a heads-up. Even a brief notice helps us cut down on confusion, coordinate with teachers, and make sure your child is ready to go without disrupting the entire dismissal process.
We truly appreciate your cooperation and support with this procedure. By working together, we can keep dismissal safe, organized, and efficient for all of our students and families.
Thank you,
Mr. Lee
Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda
Thank you to our families for being patient with our new drop-off procedures. Please remember to refrain from dropping students off on the East side of the building or parking in any area marked as a fire lane. Students may be dropped off in either of our two traffic lanes. Please be careful and patient as you drive through the drop-off loop.
September is almost done. Hopefully all parents were able to talk with their students about their expectations for behavior and academics. I will share my October tip of the month in next week's newsletter.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a key part of our communication strategy regarding your child's progress. Please plan on attending in-person or booking a virtual parent-teacher conference with the applicable teacher(s) for each child you have attending Carter Middle School.

Count Day ~ Wednesday, October 1, 2025
Count Day is an important date for our school district. The state uses attendance on this day to determine funding allocations, with each student representing a portion of the financial support our schools receive.
We kindly ask that all students are present and on time on Wednesday, October 1st, to ensure our district receives the resources necessary to support student learning. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Lions Day!
Eye Glasses
We have three pairs of eye glasses and an eye glass case in the front office that have been lost. We hope to find the owners soon. If your student has lost a pair of glasses please have them stop by to see if they are theirs.
We also have a house key that was found in the hall and brought to the office. It's on a keychain if they can tell us what's on the keychain.
Background Check Forms
If you are interested in volunteering at Carter Middle School a background form needs to be completed two weeks prior to volunteering. Please click the link below or stop by the main office to pick up a form and return to our office. We will need a copy of your driver's license before we are able to submit your form.
