May 8th Updates

Hello North Crawford Middle and High School Parents,

Greetings again North Crawford families, I hope this newsletter finds you safe and happy and able to navigate the stresses that our current global pandemic has presented. We are now in the last month of the school year and everything is coming to an end very fast. I still want to encourage students and families to reach out to teachers, counselors and administrators if you are having any difficulties. We have a crew of people on board who are ready and willing to help in any way we can. Please encourage yours sons and daughters to continue to engage in virtual education. We know it's not the same but it is our responsibility to educate the young people in our community so they can keep learning and growing.

I do want to share some important dates that middle and high school families should be aware of. Also, if you haven't filled out the virtual education SURVEY please do so. It helps to give us an idea of how things are going for individual families. Reach out to teachers, attend live lessons and meetings, ask questions immediately when you have them and we all should just focus on doing the best we can provided the situation we are all dealing with.

Thank you again North Crawford families for your partnership during these historically challenging times.

ALL MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

* Please remember to reach out to teachers with questions or clarifications that you need when those concerns arise. Teachers are here to help and want to see your sons and daughters succeed.

* If you are having technical difficulties please reach out to your children's teacher for clarification first. For google password resets or technology concerns please contact Donna Starkey, dstarkey@ncrawford.k12.wi.us, or 608-735-7225 during office hours and leave your contact information.

* Ms. Colsch is back on duty after a very short maternity leave. She has come back early to be a resource for families so if you are struggling or have questions don't hesitate to reach out to her or myself.

MIDDLE SCHOOL UPDATES

* From this point on middle school students will have a choice board for their exploratory classes. Within that choice board they should choose 3 activities a week to complete. Their exploratory rotation is now over and they are still able to complete any work for that class up to the end of the school year. All new work will be done through the choice board and students can choose any 3 activities a week that they see fit. This choice board is just an opportunity to explore some activities in different classes and those assignments will not be collected or turned in. This can just be a conversation between you and your son or daughter in regards to the assignment and what they learned.

* Our 8th grade promotion will be a live virtual event on May 28th @ 7:00 p.m. We will provide you with a link and information in the near future and we hope that the families of our 8th grade students moving in to high school will be in attendance.

HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES

* Scholarship night will be a recorded video to celebrate the accomplishments of our senior students. The video will be available for families on May 27th. More information will be coming in the upcoming weeks about specifics and links to this event.

* Graduation has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 1st. We hope to have a ceremony in the gymnasium on that date but there are still a lot of questions about what the state will allow for gatherings. We will keep you posted about what this will look like during the summer. Diplomas will be mailed out in early June however to ensure that students have them in hand in case they need them for college, jobs or whatever else.

Please continue to be thoughtful with your actions as the numbers in our county have increased slightly. We have a responsibility to each other to keep everyone safe. We are facing a big challenge together and I know we will get through this if we practice kindness, respect and look out for those who are less fortunate. Let's show each other what Trojan Pride is all about!
