Academy Avenue Elementary School

Dear Academy families and friends,

What a great week we had this past week! We kicked off more spirit days to close out 2023 leading up to the holiday break. Just a reminder that this week, we have an early release day on Tuesday, December 12, due to Professional Development for our staff. Dismissal is at 11:50 A.M.

The fifth grade this past week completed the Panorama survey and also had a special assembly with the students from Thayer Academy and WHS, the SALSA students who shared their future aspirations and ways they plan to make good choices to live healthy lifestyles that will empower their futures.

We had a great turnout out at Book Bingo and lots of fun for all. We'll have to do that again!!! Thank you for everyone who came and of course our AAPC who provided this and other great opportunities for our students.

Term 1 came to an official end on Friday, December 8th. To celebrate the end of a great first term, we had an amazing student and staff football game to bring the school together! It was a very competitive matchup between the Maroon and Gold teams. While the Maroon team had the lead at halftime, the Gold team rallied back and won the game 19-12. A rematch is certainly in order!

Please remember, this is the last week to donate to Coats for Kids drive is going on now through December 18...we need your help to reach our goal. Next up, we have the mitten tree up in the lobby, help us fill it's branches. If every one gives a little...it will add up to a lot of good!!!

As always, please follow us on social media as there are many more pictures and stories to share. Next week we have the Winter Workshop on Monday and the Winter Concert on Wednesday!!!

All the best,

Mr. Higgins

Dear Parents:

Kindergarten registration for next year will be opening soon so to prepare for sibling placements we are asking you to take a moment to fill out this brief survey. Given rising enrollments in classrooms across the district, the knowledge of siblings is more important than ever to prepare our classes. Your help with this is much appreciated, if you have any questions please reach out to our Family Engagement Center at familyengagement@weymouthps.org
